The Nine O'Clock Husband - Chapter 9
Jackson came again.
“Isabella, I’ve completely cut ties with Ava. Her child has already paid the price for ours. We can start over.”
When I heard this, I was momentarily shocked before realizing the horror of Jackson.
He actually dared to harm a child.
More importantly, he didn’t see his own problem, thinking that mutual retribution would allow us to start anew.
I understood that reasoning with someone like him was futile.
I chose to ignore him, but Jackson followed me every day, persistently trying to win me back.
He always believed I wouldn’t easily let go of my love for him, after all, I had sacrificed so much for him.
As long as he sincerely repented, I would surely forgive him.
The villagers began to look at us strangely.
With no other choice, I asked Gabriel to pretend to be my boyfriend.
When Gabriel heard the proposal, he was slightly taken aback but gladly accepted, “I’m happy to help you get rid of a big trouble.”
Over the time we spent together, we had become good friends.
When I appeared in front of Jackson holding Gabriel’s hand, his usual confident expression shattered.
He gritted his teeth, staring intently at our hands, wishing he could rush over and separate them.
But he couldn’t; he was afraid of scaring me.
So, Jackson suppressed his jealousy and humbly said:
“Isabella, even if you have someone else, I don’t mind. I’ll still stay by your side.”
How did I not see before that he not only liked having affairs but also enjoyed being the other man?
I didn’t even spare him a glance. Whatever he wanted to do was his business. If he liked enduring, then let him endure.
It was a chance for him to feel the pain I once experienced.
Within a week, Jackson had lost a lot of weight, carrying a sense of resentment.
When he received a call from the company asking him to return to handle matters, I felt he was relieved.
Yet he still refused to give up, “Isabella, when I come back, I’ll show you my sincerity.”
Who would want to wait for him to come back? I had already planned a trip to other places with Gabriel.
But I didn’t tell him that.
However, Jackson never made it back; he got into a car accident, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down, reliant on a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
It was said that his sexual function was also affected.
The doctor mentioned that if he had come a bit earlier, it might have been saved.
The person who hit him was Ava. She was furious about having nothing after following Jackson for three years, and in a fit of rage, she did such a thing.
After the crash, she realized her mistake.
But she didn’t help him; instead, she chose to flee.
When the police found her, she was already mentally unstable, diagnosed with a mental illness.
When I heard the news, I felt a bit of pity but also that they deserved it.
Jackson had sent me messages, digging up many things between us, trying to invoke my sympathy.
Unfortunately, he was mistaken.
I blocked all his contacts. Each time he changed, I blocked him again. Eventually, he stopped reaching out.
With the money from the divorce settlement, I traveled to many places, witnessing various wonders.
From being timid to truly accepting myself, my life was just beginning.
