The Little Spoiled Brat Divorces with a Child, Driving the Big Boss Crazy - Chapter 82
Chapter 82
Lu Ying did not go to Hu Chuang’s house for lunch.
Jin Beizhou’s expression was foul as he looked Hu Chuang up and down. “What part of you looks delicious?”
“…” Hu Chuang gritted his teeth. “Damn it, I really want to kill you!”
He had not been the one who said it.
Besides, when Lu Ying said those words, she had clearly been threatening to hack someone apart. Yet once those words passed through this dog’s mouth, it sounded as though Lu Ying had taken a fancy to him.
“You’re nothing more than a pawn in my house-laundering scheme.” Jin Beizhou’s expression turned cold as he warned, “If you dare harbor improper thoughts about my wife or daughter, I’ll chop you into eight pieces.”
Hu Chuang cursed, “You’re such a goddamn shameless bastard!”
His things had already been moved in, but Hu Chuang stubbornly followed Jin Beizhou to Beijiang Villa.
Jin Beizhou’s phone rang one call after another. Hu Chuang was extremely curious to know what this dog of a man was so busy doing.
Throughout the afternoon, elite salespeople from major stores came and went from Beijiang Villa. Beicheng’s leading childcare specialists joined the interior designers for an important meeting, and they ultimately settled every aspect of the nursery’s layout and decor.
From something as large as the color of the walls to something as small as a sleep-soothing ornament, every detail had to benefit the baby’s development.
Jin Beizhou signed the documents and instructed, “Make sure every corner is safe. My daughter is mischievous.”
“Yes, President Jin.”
Hu Chuang had had enough. “Are you going to the office or not?”
“I am.” Jin Beizhou rose. “I’ll personally negotiate those contracts out of province.”
“…What’s the rush?”
“I need to earn more for my daughter before she’s born.”
Hu Chuang was speechless. “Can you go three sentences without mentioning your daughter?”
“You have no idea how adorable she is.” A doting-father smile spread across Jin Beizhou’s face. “She even grabs her umbilical cord and plays with it all by herself…”
“I’m sure she’d like to play with someone else,” Hu Chuang said. “The conditions just don’t allow it.”
Immersed in his own thoughts, Jin Beizhou pulled up an image on his phone and held it directly beneath Hu Chuang’s eyes. “Look. Isn’t she beautiful?”
“…” Hu Chuang rolled his eyes at the 4D ultrasound image he had already seen countless times. “How can you possibly tell that she’s beautiful?”
He had barely been able to tell that it was a baby.
“This is her forehead. It looks like Lu Yingying’s.” Jin Beizhou pointed out each feature. “Her nose and mouth take after me. Her eyes are huge, and her lashes are exactly like my wife’s…”
Hu Chuang fell silent.
He truly could not see any of that.
Jin Beizhou grew increasingly enthusiastic and described the baby from head to toe.
Then, in the middle of his explanation, he stopped without warning.
Hu Chuang snapped impatiently, “Go on.”
“…” Jin Beizhou looked miserable. “I wonder where that slap landed.”
“What slap? Who hit her?”
“Her mother.”
“…”
Jin Beizhou lowered his voice. “Whose daughter gets slapped before she’s even born?”
“Why didn’t you fight her?” Hu Chuang asked.
“You think I dare fight Lu Yingying?” Jin Beizhou looked at him. “I made two smart remarks, and she came over and slapped my daughter.”
Hu Chuang was thoroughly defeated. “She was probably aiming for your face.”
Jin Beizhou sighed. “There was a dining table between us. Her arms were too short to reach.”
“…Bro,” Hu Chuang advised him out of genuine goodwill, “why don’t you change? You really do run your mouth too much.”
“I don’t need you to tell me that.”
He had enrolled in a private course with a marital psychology specialist.
He would start attending once he finished dealing with the work on hand.
At present, his two most urgent priorities were to take good care of Lu Ying and to earn more money so he could create a comfortable life for his daughter.
Their conversation came to an end. Dajun hurried inside and whispered something in Jin Beizhou’s ear.
Hu Chuang looked suspicious. “What happened?”
All warmth vanished from Jin Beizhou’s face. He said flatly, “We caught Chen Zheng.”
“…”
Who?
Chen Zheng?
Chen Qi’s younger brother?
Hu Chuang did not understand. “Why did you capture him?”
“Lu Yingying’s Peace Buckle ended up in his hands,” Jin Beizhou said. “Then he delivered it to Jin Meimei’s birthday party. Why do you think I captured him?”
Naturally, it was because Chen Zheng was connected to Lu Ying’s kidnapping.
The whole matter was so convoluted and complicated that Hu Chuang could not make sense of it.
“Are you planning to keep him locked up like this?”
“Either he talks,” Jin Beizhou said calmly, “or his brother does.”
“…”
Right.
They had nearly forgotten about Chen Qi.
One of the two brothers would eventually confess.
Jin Beizhou clearly understood the prisoner’s dilemma.
Hu Chuang scratched his head. “What if the brothers don’t get along?”
Jin Beizhou could not be bothered to answer. “I’m leaving on a business trip. A chef and a family doctor have already been sent to Caotang. Keep an eye on things for me. I’ll owe you.”
“…Damn it, just get lost!”
Jin Beizhou had arranged everything in detail. Hu Chuang’s only responsibilities were to find a way to make Lu Ying accept the meals prepared by the chef and to have the doctor check her every day and count the baby’s movements.
That evening, Auntie Zhang accompanied Lu Ying to a maternity and baby store to pick up a newly arrived baby-soothing gadget.
After collecting it, the two walked back to Caotang.
But the moment they reached the entrance of the residential complex, someone blocked Lu Ying’s path.
It was Jiao An.
He stood at the exit with three or four men, his expression hostile, as though he had been lying in wait for her.
Jiao An’s face was clouded with anger. “Was this your doing?”
Lu Ying did not even look at him. “Lunatic.”
“Why the fuck are you acting so arrogant?” Jiao An suddenly reached out and yanked her. “Where’s Meimei? Did you hire someone to take revenge on her?”
Lu Ying staggered from the force. Fortunately, Auntie Zhang caught her in time.
“What’s wrong with you?” she asked impatiently. “Who is she to me? What does any of this have to do with me?”
“She’s gone! She disappeared! I can’t think of anyone except you who…”
Before he could finish, a group of bodyguards appeared from nowhere. Dajun, at their head, kicked Jiao An in the stomach.
Jiao An cried out and crashed to the ground several feet away.
“Madam,” Dajun asked anxiously, “are you all right?”
Lu Ying paused. “I’m fine.”
Three other men helped Jiao An to his feet. He cursed, “You did it, didn’t you? I’m calling the police and having you arrested!”
Dajun and the others shielded Lu Ying behind them.
Only then did she finally understand.
Jin Meimei had disappeared.
Jiao An thought Lu Ying was responsible, so he had come to settle the score with her.
“Young Master Jiao,” Dajun warned sternly, “take one more step, and the Second Young Master will wipe the Jiao Family out of Beicheng!”
Jiao An wiped his mouth and spat. “My family has been established in Beicheng for generations. He’s an orphan abandoned by everyone. Tell him to stop making empty threats!”
Dajun did not argue. Protecting Lu Ying was their responsibility.
“I’m warning you, Lu Ying!” Jiao An raised his voice. “If you dare do anything to Meimei…”
“Your father is being mounted by a dog, and you still have time to stand here making threats?” Lu Ying shot back. “Hurry home and save him!”
Everyone froze.
Lu Ying continued, “If your mouth is so powerful, why don’t you use it to find your precious little darling?”
“Your parents are still alive, but a useless coward like you must be close to angering them to death. Hurry home and resuscitate them, or you’ll be an orphan soon, you idiot!”
“Your prestigious family will end with your parents’ generation, and you still have time to bark at me here!”
“…”
Jiao An’s face turned livid. He had never been able to match Lu Ying in a war of words, even as a child, and Dajun and the others were watching him like hawks.
Now fully caught up in her tirade, Lu Ying added, “Some dogs might be orphans, but they’re still ten thousand times better than a piece of shit like you that crawled out of a cesspit. Go home and suck on a pacifier, you cuckolded bastard!”
