The Little Spoiled Brat Divorces with a Child, Driving the Big Boss Crazy - Chapter 65
Chapter 65
Yi Xie tugged and dragged, trying to take his mother away.
But Mrs. Yi kept shouting that she would call the police, have Lu Ying thrown into prison, and make sure she received her punishment.
The scene descended into complete chaos.
Yi Xie suddenly roared, “Mom! Let’s go home and raise money! My company has already been dragged down by you!!”
“…” Mrs. Yi abruptly stopped. “What do you mean? What happened to your company?”
“Have you forgotten?” Yi Xie’s eyes were red. “Eldest Brother and Second Brother invested in my company. Now that the Jin Family no longer wants our technical patents, they’re withdrawing their investment too!!”
“…”
Powerless, Yi Xie said, “Mom, stop making trouble. Right now, they’re only pulling their investment. Are you trying to make them enemies of the Yi Family?”
The Yi Family could not withstand that.
They couldn’t withstand either Jin Sinian or Jin Beizhou alone, much less the two working together.
Mrs. Yi seemed to shut down completely.
Lu Ying ignored them. She pushed away Jin Beizhou’s hands as he checked her from head to toe and said impatiently, “Children are having lessons. All of you, leave.”
Once he confirmed that she was unharmed, Jin Beizhou finally glanced at Yi Xie. “Get out.”
Looking utterly haggard, Yi Xie nodded frantically.
At last, quiet returned to the front desk.
Jin Beizhou coughed softly. “You’re almost finished with work. Want to have dinner together?”
“You’re insane,” Lu Ying replied without hesitation. “I’m dieting. Hurry up and leave.”
Deep lines formed between Jin Beizhou’s brows. “Don’t ask for a beating…”
Lu Ying raised her lashes.
Jin Beizhou belatedly swallowed the rest of the sentence.
If he’d known, he never would have said she’d gained weight. When would he finally learn to control this damned mouth of his?
Wenwen hugged the container of hawthorn cake from which she had scraped away the mold. Her eyes darted between them before she said awkwardly, “Boss Sis, so you’re dieting. I thought you were allergic to hawthorn.”
“…” Jin Beizhou paused. “Allergic to hawthorn?”
At the sudden reminder, Lu Ying was about to brush it off when Wenwen answered quickly, “Boss Sis said she couldn’t eat hawthorn, so I thought she was allergic.”
Jin Beizhou’s gaze shifted and settled on Lu Ying’s face.
“Don’t you like sweet and sour things?”
“I can’t eat it.” Lu Ying’s heart thudded hard, but her expression didn’t change at all. “The doctor said my stomach can’t tolerate it.”
Lying came effortlessly to her. Lu Ying didn’t actually have to hide this from him. They were already divorced.
Sometimes, her own actions seemed as though she were possessed by a ghost. She couldn’t explain them even to herself.
But she had already hidden it.
She might as well keep hiding it until that became impossible.
It wasn’t as though she had broken some sacred law.
Jin Beizhou believed her immediately. He bent down and crouched in front of her chair. “Does your stomach still hurt?”
“It’s much better,” Lu Ying said evasively. “I still need to avoid certain foods.”
Jin Beizhou looked her directly in the eyes.
Beneath the man’s thick, blade-like brows, his sharp and lethal eyes softened with tenderness, warming the coldness of his entire face.
“You can’t diet,” he coaxed slowly in a low voice. “My mouth got the better of me before. Let me apologize, all right?”
He could no longer stay by Lu Ying’s side. He was afraid she would behave recklessly and harm her health again.
Without changing expression, Lu Ying said, “Leave.”
“…” Jin Beizhou didn’t want to go. “I dragged you into the Yi Family’s mess. Let me buy you dinner…”
“No.”
“Please…”
“Get lost.”
“At least think about it.” Unconscious humility entered Jin Beizhou’s voice. “Don’t reject me so decisively…”
Lu Ying said, “Fine.”
Jin Beizhou froze, delight appearing in his eyes. “You agree?”
“I’ll think about it.”
“All right.” Jin Beizhou licked his lips. “I’ll wait here…”
Lu Ying said, “I’ve finished thinking.”
“…”
Lu Ying said, “I refuse. Please leave.”
Jin Beizhou nearly suffered a heart attack.
“Are you leaving or not?” Lu Ying asked impatiently. “That huge vase by the door is there especially for you.”
Jin Beizhou stared at her incredulously. “You actually lifted that vase?”
It was over a meter tall. This young lady truly possessed the strength of an ox.
“And another thing.” He picked up the thick, hardbound Go manual. “You’re using a Go manual to hit people? Have you forgotten Grandpa told you to take good care of it?”
Lu Ying tried to snatch the manual back. “If you don’t leave, I’m calling the police!”
Jin Beizhou moved his hand aside, avoiding her with ease.
He quickly flipped through several pages, then laughed in exasperation. “You even drew in it. Oh, is this a move you got from playing against an AI?”
“…” Lu Ying snatched it back. “Hurry up and get lost. If Chen Qi invites you to play Go, accept with enthusiasm. Don’t put on that arrogant face and make him beg you!”
Jin Beizhou was so angry he laughed. “What exactly did the two of you do? He drove you home, and then?”
Lu Ying answered, “We had a warm and friendly exchange.”
“…”
Every blood vessel in Jin Beizhou’s body seemed to clog at once.
He straightened, his towering figure casting her entire body into shadow. “I’m leaving on a business trip tomorrow. It’ll probably take some time…”
“Just go,” Lu Ying said bluntly. “Do you expect me to set off firecrackers in celebration?”
Jin Beizhou lowered his eyes. “Don’t see him behind my back.”
Lu Ying asked, “Would you like to hear an encrypted profanity?”
“…”
Forget it.
It appeared he had already pushed her to the limit.
If he didn’t leave now, she might genuinely smash that meter-tall vase over his head. Once this young lady’s rotten temper flared, there was nothing she wouldn’t do.
Jin Beizhou stared at her for a moment. “I’m going.”
Lu Ying ignored him and began putting the Go manual into a drawer.
Taking advantage of her distraction, Jin Beizhou roughly mussed her hair, then quickly pinched the softness of her cheek.
He didn’t dare say it aloud for fear she would insist on dieting, but she felt far better than before.
Lu Ying yanked the half-stowed manual back out and swung it at him viciously. “Today, either you die or I live!”
Jin Beizhou dodged with extraordinary speed, as though this had happened countless times before.
He even laughed. As he headed toward the elevator, he called back, “I’m off to die. I’ll come back to life in a while.”
Lu Ying’s chest heaved with rage.
Wenwen picked up the Go manual and asked cautiously, “Boss Sis, are you and your ex-brother-in-law… always this intense?”
“…” Lu Ying answered expressionlessly, “Go eat your hairy hawthorn cake.”
Wenwen studied her. “Sis, you really have gained some weight lately. Even I can see it.”
Lu Ying said, “That’s only natural. I’ve been eating more.”
“But your arms and legs haven’t changed,” Wenwen said honestly. “It’s all gone to your waist.”
“…”
Of course it had.
There was a baby in her belly.
Wenwen added, “If I didn’t know better, I’d think you were pregnant.”
“…So are you someone who doesn’t know better,” Lu Ying asked, “or someone who knows?”
Wenwen grinned mischievously and sat down at the computer to work.
The next second, she pointed at the surveillance monitor in surprise. “Sis, look! Some beautiful women are flirting with your ex-brother-in-law.”
Jin Beizhou stood inside the elevator. Two girls beside him looked shy and flirtatious, probably asking for his phone number.
Lu Ying curled her lip.
This man had always attracted women like flowers drew bees. It was all her fault for chasing away his romantic prospects.
Her phone chimed twice.
The messages came from an unfamiliar number.
[Someone asked for my contact information.]
[They’re girls.]
They were from Jin Beizhou.
Lu Ying replied with utmost sincerity. [Please date freely. Lu Ying will never stand in your way again.]
