Chapter 7
I stared at Jiang Yi’s reply for a while. Inadvertently, I saw the bracelet in my storage box, the same style as the one Jiang Yi wore. My heart skipped a beat. Somehow, I picked up the bracelet and put it on my wrist.
My roommate was screaming and bouncing below with a knowing smile. My phone vibrated with a new message. It was a friend request. The self-introduction was simple: [Jiang Yi, puppy.]
I accepted it, then buried my head in my quilt and turned off my phone.
I hid in the dorm from Jiang Yi for three days, and from those girls who looked at me with worshipping eyes and gave me a thumbs-up whenever they saw me.
On Saturday, my roommate finally couldn’t stand it anymore and wanted to go out to eat. Since I was craving food, I went with her.
As soon as we reached the entrance of the barbecue restaurant, the bullet comments appeared again.
[The show about her running, him chasing, and her being unable to escape is about to begin.]
[The female lead worked so hard to avoid Jiang Yi for three days, but didn’t expect to be caught by him as soon as she stepped out. That’s fate, nothing can stop it.]
[Soon the female lead will bump into Jiang Yi, and the school queen will also try to get close to Jiang Yi by playing games and sticking to him. Female lead, quickly go and pull the school queen away from Jiang Yi!]
[Jiang Yi won’t give the school queen a chance at all; I can’t help but laugh thinking about what’s going to happen.]
My steps, which had just entered the barbecue restaurant, stopped. My sharp eyes spotted a boy with his back to me at the innermost large table. He was wearing a black short-sleeved shirt, with his hand propped on the table, and the bracelet on his wrist looked out of place among a group of big men.
I urgently tugged on my roommate’s sleeve. “Let’s go to a different place.”
My roommate looked at me confused. “You said you wanted barbecue when we left and told me to ‘go go go’!”
From the corner of my eye, I saw a boy at the innermost table stand up and walk towards the entrance. I desperately pulled my roommate outside. The boy passed by me and went out. I patted my chest and let out a long sigh of relief.
The next second, he backed up a few steps and stopped in front of me, calling out loudly, “Hey, isn’t this Jiang Yi’s wife?”
“?”
My roommate’s eyes lit up when she heard “wife.”
“Wife?”
“Yeah.” The boy pointed to the table inside. “Just now, Jiang Yi lost a dare and showed us his top contact on WeChat.”
“He had it noted as [My Dearest Wife].”
My roommate looked in the direction he pointed. “Jiang Yi?”
I followed her gaze. Our eyes met, and I quickly looked away.
“Who else could it be but his beloved Shen Zhaoyue?”
“He hasn’t been able to find anyone to play basketball with these past few days, can’t even make a three-pointer.”
“She hasn’t replied to his messages, and he’s been distracted even while eating.”
The boy tried to continue, but was suddenly interrupted. Jiang Yi walked over and stood behind him. His eyes, however, were fixed on me. “You talk too much.”
“Shut up.”
