Chapter 25
The hospital called me many times afterward, saying Li Kai wanted to see me. I never went.
I didn’t have time. I was filing for divorce.
Because of Li Kai’s mental condition, the divorce process was more complicated than a typical one.
But fortunately, I was well-prepared.
I demonstrated that our relationship had completely broken down, providing all the evidence of his affair, organized chronologically. Of course, all the evidence was obtained legally and was therefore accepted by the court.
This included the videos I recorded of his and Su Yuluo’s shopping orders, the video I took when I caught them, corroborated by videos from several neighbors, the police mediation record, and the photos, videos, and WeChat messages Su Yuluo had sent me of her and Li Kai together.
I also provided his medical records from his hospital visits, the receipts for his medication, videos of me playing the part of the dutiful wife, and videos of me hiding in a corner, crying in fear, when he was having a manic episode.
In the end, the court granted the divorce. The majority of the assets were awarded to me, but considering Li Kai’s mental condition, a small portion was given to him.
Finally, my mother-in-law used all the money awarded to Li Kai to pay for his hospitalization fees.
It was enough to keep him in the hospital for a very, very long time.
