Chapter 11
My brother may seem laid-back and goofy on the surface, but when he gets serious about something, he’s incredibly dedicated.
Just like with his business, which has been doing reasonably well for years, especially during the pandemic.
Although he has his own network and resources, I was still surprised by his speed when he presented me with a thick stack of documents.
Su Yuluo. Resident of Dongzhuang Village, XX Town. She has an older sister and a younger brother.
At the age of four, she was given to relatives to raise due to her family’s poverty and their preference for sons. She was only taken back after she became an adult.
Personality: suspicious, sensitive, and vindictive. She is constantly being financially drained by her biological family and her brother, yet she seems to enjoy it.
Life motto: Walk your own path and let others talk.
She currently has a boyfriend, to whom she is engaged. The file also included detailed information on her boyfriend, including his phone number and WeChat ID.
I did recall Li Kai mentioning that Su Yuluo had a pitiful background and not much education. When she first joined the company, she made mistakes all the time, and he often had to clean up her messes.
At the time, I had even advised him to be patient. “The girl’s had it tough. Newcomers always go through a learning process, so she needs guidance and support.”
It was just like when we graduated from medical school, knowing nothing. We were lucky to have teachers and senior colleagues who patiently guided us until we gradually learned the skills of diagnosing and treating people.
Later, he came home and mentioned that the girl was not bad, had a sincere attitude, and was proactive. From his tone, I could tell he didn’t dislike Su Yuluo as much as he did at the beginning.
At that time, I was glad that the relationships between colleagues at his company had improved. It meant he could focus on his work without distractions.
After that, he mentioned her less and less, and I never gave it another thought.
I never imagined that he had taken such good care of her that he had “cared” for her all the way into his own bed.
She may be pitiful, but that is no reason or excuse for her to interfere in someone else’s marriage!
I flipped through the documents page by page, and in an inconspicuous corner, I found her medical records. On a whim, I logged into the outpatient electronic medical record system.
Although we live in a small county, the hospital I work at is the best public hospital here. When people get sick, it’s usually their first choice.
I clicked on the “Clinic Print” section, adjusted the time frame to the past year, and typed in “Su Yuluo.” Several corresponding outpatient records appeared. I filtered them by age and ID number and printed out all the matching ones.
In that moment, I was actually grateful for the hospital’s open access policy for the Emergency Department regarding outpatient medical records.
Due to the unpredictable and complex nature of emergency work, besides the outpatient office on the second floor, only our department could print medical records from across the entire hospital.
I carefully reviewed them. Su Yuluo had been treated multiple times in our hospital’s gynecology department for painful periods and several times in the ENT department for nosebleeds. The appointments for both conditions were not far apart.
Suddenly, I recalled the image of Li Kai taking his melatonin every single night.
An almost perfect revenge plan began to form in my mind, a conditioned reflex.
I would make them suffer eternal damnation, a lifetime of despair.
