Chapter 4
Qin Yu’s pupils trembled slightly, surprised by my casual nonsense.
The teacher waved his hand, instructing me to take him to the infirmary.
I am tone-deaf, and the only reason I can escape music class is because Qin Yu is seen as a model student by the teacher.
He was like a block of stone as I dragged him forward, and as we passed the window, I saw Yang Chen with a gloomy expression.
“Qin Yu, have you never skipped class before?”
I pried open his hand, feeling the warmth of his palm. A tickling sensation crossed my heart as I shamelessly slipped my hand into his.
He didn’t shake it off.
I led him through the alley by the school entrance and found my favorite restaurant. The owner cheerfully brought over a bowl of noodles.
“Bringing a friend? Isn’t it class time?”
I smiled brightly.
“Yes, we skipped class.”
Qin Yu’s breath halted, and he raised his hand to cover my mouth, desperately wishing I could swallow my words right there.
I was delighted; who invented Qin Yu, this adorable little thing?
He hit all my cute points perfectly.
I brought over two small bowls.
“Half for you, half for me, our bond won’t break.”
Qin Yu frowned at the bowl of noodles, saying nothing.
I thought he was disdainful of me, but then he handed over his phone.
I understood his meaning.
He said he had money and could buy two bowls.
In truth, I couldn’t finish a whole bowl; I had just had breakfast and couldn’t possibly eat it all.
I took the opportunity to grab his phone and added my WeChat.
Qin Yu paused but didn’t stop me.
Qin Yu ate quietly, even the simplest bowl of noodles seemed refined when he ate.
Once we finished eating, I wiped my mouth and pulled him to run.
Qin Yu was bewildered, stumbling as he followed me until we ran out of the alley. Only then did I turn back.
His eyes were shining brightly; it seemed he had never done something so rebellious before.
His heartbeat was fast, and even though we were face to face, I could hear it.
He tugged at me to go back, his gaze firm.
I freed my hand from his grip.
“We’ve already skipped out on the bill; going back would be embarrassing.”
Qin Yu pursed his lips, looking at me silently. He wasn’t angry, just filled with helpless indulgence and a firm sense of integrity.
I grinned at him.
“We can go back, but you have to tell the owner, ‘Sorry, we’re here to pay,’ then I’ll go back.”
Qin Yu stood at the alley entrance, hesitating for a full five minutes before resigning himself to pull me back.
The owner was wiping tables, staring at us like statues at the entrance. I nudged him.
“Speak.”
Sweat formed in Qin Yu’s palm, gripping my hand tightly, his ears turning a frightening shade of red.
I thought he might give up.
But the next second, I heard Qin Yu’s unique cool voice, stammering.
“Sorry, owner… we’re here to pay.”
