Chapter 5
I returned just in time for my dad’s birthday. This time, they planned to hold it at a hotel and invite relatives and friends for a gathering.
The hotel was booked at a location not far from home, with a total of five tables filled with familiar friends and family.
Many people were asking about Leo.
Fortunately, my son had a class today and didn’t come.
My parents didn’t answer directly. Before the meal started, my dad went on stage to speak, and that’s when Leo arrived.
He was dressed in a suit, carrying several bags of gifts and a large red envelope.
Relatives and friends greeted him warmly.
He waited for my dad to come down and handed over the envelope, “Dad, happy birthday.”
My dad glanced at it indifferently, “No need for that, the red envelope isn’t necessary, after all, you and Jane are divorced now. I wouldn’t want you to spend unnecessarily.”
Leo’s expression froze instantly, and there was a moment of uproar among the relatives, which quickly quieted down.
He spoke softly, “It’s still just in the agreement…”
My dad shook his head, “It’s all the same, it means the same thing.”
After saying that, he turned to invite everyone to eat and drink.
Leo stood there, gripping the gift bags tightly, while my mom politely returned the other items.
He didn’t linger and left.
Seeing him leave, the relatives tacitly avoided mentioning Leo again, and no one would ask me about him in the future.
That’s good.
My mood gradually recovered, accepting, permeating, as I shed the title of Mrs. Leo.
I returned to being Sophia.
The company’s property and the concierge, somehow got the news, stopped calling me Mrs. Leo, and switched to Ms. Sophia.
I quickly wanted to keep myself busy, planning to open a coffee shop. Conveniently, there was a shop for transfer, and I was quite satisfied with the renovation location, so I signed it directly.
The staff here were already in place, allowing continued operation, but I wanted to take time to adjust the variety and taste.
Change the sign and the tables and chairs.
Temporarily set for trial operation.
I spent a day in the shop finalizing plans and decided to head back.
I glanced at the calendar in the car.
15 days left until the divorce countdown.
