Ten Million, I Sold My Life Away - Chapter 14
In the past, I didn’t dare to confront him so directly.
I followed him back to Hai City, and when I felt wronged, I could only tell him.
At first, he would offer some comfort, but as it happened more often, he said, “If everyone says it’s you, isn’t it your problem?”
So, the grievances that followed, I could only chew up and swallow.
Constantly consuming myself, allowing myself to be degraded into the dust.
Jiang Huaixu said nothing more.
When Lin Xiran came looking for me, I wasn’t very surprised.
I simply finished my work and found a café to sit down with her.
After many years, she had changed a lot.
From a young lady to a wealthy wife, she had shed the charm of her youth, and her every move was now filled with elegance and nobility.
Yet she couldn’t hide the weariness in her eyes.
She got straight to the point: “An Qin, long time no see.”
“Mm.”
“You don’t need to be so guarded with me. I’m not here to cause trouble.” She lifted her chin and took several deep breaths, “I’ve divorced Jiang Huaixu. He has deep feelings for you, and all these years, he’s never forgotten you. As for me…”
She chuckled sarcastically but didn’t continue, “I hope you can give him another chance. I won’t be an obstacle to you, rest assured.”
“Miss Lin, did he ask you to come and tell me this? Please let him know it’s unnecessary.”
I got up and walked out.
After a few seconds of silence, the sound of a cup shattering and a woman’s sharp cries came from behind.
“An Qin, how can you be so calm?”
“Because of you, I’ve spent seven years in painful torment. You made me a laughingstock in all of Hai City! Why aren’t you really dead, just go and die!”
Amidst the chaos and noise, I saw Jiang Huaixu standing outside the crowd.
He watched Lin Xiran, who had collapsed on the ground crying, with indifference, as if her suffering had nothing to do with him.
I had heard about their divorce some time ago.
Jiang Huaixu used the entire Lin family to threaten Lin Xiran into signing the divorce agreement.
The whole city was abuzz, saying that Jiang Huaixu’s white moonlight had returned from abroad, and she had been despised for years, long overdue to step down.
Jiang Huaixu’s friends had also changed their tune, blaming her for how harsh she had been to me in the past, mocking how she had become so irrational and unreasonable over the years.
“Are you satisfied now? What else do you need?”
“I can let you dispose of me as well.”
His voice was light and slow, using another woman’s pain as a gift of apology.
I brushed past him.
“I need nothing.”
“I’ve applied for a transfer abroad. If nothing unexpected happens, I won’t be coming back.”
