Take Me Away, My Love - Chapter 14 - Jian Qingtian
Even when Li Minchun shouted that her stomach hurt, Jian Yiqing remained indifferent and said, “Don’t think you can trick me with that excuse again. You’ve already used it several times.”
As he spoke, he pushed the bowl of fish towards her and said, “No matter what excuse you use, you have to finish everything today!”
But Li Minchun didn’t pay him any mind. She fell to the ground in pain, crying out continuously.
Xiao Ru’s mom hurried over and found that her water had broken: “What are you thinking about eating for? She’s going into labor! Quick, get things ready!”
With just one sentence, the whole place descended into chaos.
Everything had been discussed and planned beforehand, but at this critical moment, everyone panicked. Jian Yiqing stood there, watching as the sweat-covered Li Minchun was overcome with pain, unsure of what to do.
Seeing him like this, Xiao Ru’s mom shouted angrily, “What are you standing around for? Didn’t we already plan this? You boil water and find scissors, while Xiao Ru’s dad starts a fire!”
Her words finally snapped Jian Yiqing into action, and he started moving.
Everyone in the house was busy, while Li Minchun was gently placed onto the bed.
The waves of pain from her stomach made her feel like she might faint.
If not for her strong belief in having the child born smoothly, she might not have persevered.
She kept encouraging herself: Li Minchun, you have to hold on. Even the god is watching over you and the baby. Now is not the time for anything to go wrong. You must hold on, and ensure the child is born safely and smoothly!
Holding onto that belief, soon a loud cry of a newborn pierced the night. A plump, white baby boy finally appeared before everyone.
Thanks to Li Minchun’s strong physique, the childbirth process went exceptionally smoothly.
After washing the baby and wrapping him in a small blanket, he was placed beside her. Feeling the warmth from the little one beside her, Li Minchun felt her world instantly become richer.
Jian Yiqing, drenched in sweat, finally rushed over. As he reached out with trembling hands to hold the baby, he hesitated, worried about his soft little body.
Reaching over to brush the hair from his wife’s face with gratitude, he said, “Thank you for all your hard work.”
After giving birth, Li Minchun’s physical strength had been mostly depleted, and even speaking became difficult. She gazed at Jian Yiqing, her heart filled with emotion.
Their love had faced many obstacles, and to protect this child, they had endured even more hardship and trials.
Now that the child was finally born safely, the joy of victory brought her to tears.
Jian Yiqing understood her feelings and gently wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes, saying, “You shouldn’t cry right after giving birth, or you’ll become less beautiful, and then I won’t want you anymore.”
Sure enough, after hearing these words, Li Minchun held back her tears.
Jian Yiqing examined his son’s face closely and, with a smile, said, “This little guy seems quite wise. How about we call him Jian Qingtian? What do you think?”
Li Minchun nodded gently and then closed her eyes. She was utterly exhausted and desperately needed some rest.
The sound of the baby’s cries brought mixed reactions from those who heard it-some were joyful, while others were troubled.
Xiao Ru’s family naturally had nothing but joy, but the most upset and angry was Xiu’er.
The baby’s cries woke her from her sleep, prompting her to glance over at Li Minchun’s home, and she cursed angrily, “What a nuisance, can’t even sleep peacefully.”
As she was cursing, the door suddenly burst open.
A drunken Zhang Bin stumbled in, reeking of alcohol.
Seeing him staggering, Xiu’er felt a surge of anger. Not wanting to look at him, she turned her back to him and pretended to sleep.
But Zhang Bin, oblivious to this, clumsily threw himself onto Xiu’er, pinning her beneath him, and teasingly said, “Wife, I saw your eyes open. Why did you close them? Are you teasing me?”
Underneath him, Xiu’er couldn’t stand his smell of alcohol. She shifted to the side and said disdainfully, “It’s late, I’m tired, let’s sleep.”
Who would have thought that Zhang Bin would yank the blanket off Xiu’er, cursing, “Why the hell are you tired? Did you sneak around with a man during the day and now can’t even muster the energy to take care of me at night? Today is the day Jian Yiqing and Li Minchun had their child, so tomorrow I want you, you little vixen, to have one too.”
As he spoke, his rough hand made its way to Xiu’er’s smooth skin.
With just a slight pressure from that coarse palm, several red marks appeared on Xiu’er’s delicate skin.
Zhang Bin, not knowing gentleness, continued to assault Xiu’er’s sensitive areas, determined not to stop until he had fully conquered her that night.
Despite Xiu’er’s resistance and her unwillingness, the outcome was inevitable.
As the man on top of her moved relentlessly, tears streamed down Xiu’er’s cheeks, eventually soaking into the pillowcase and disappearing from sight…
The next morning, Xiao Ru’s adorable little face appeared behind the door of Li Minchun’s room.
“Xiao Ru, what are you doing there? Come in!” Seeing Xiao Ru, Li Minchun quickly waved her over from the bed.
Only then did Xiao Ru happily skip into the room.
As soon as she entered, her big, bright eyes fixated on Jian Qingtian, unwilling to look away.
“Isn’t he cute?” Li Minchun asked with a smile.
Xiao Ru nodded with a smile, tentatively reaching out a finger, only to pull it back timidly as she asked, “Aunt Li Minchun, can I touch him?”
Li Minchun nodded and said with a smile, “Of course you can.”
Saying this, she gently moved Jian Qingtian closer to Xiao Ru.
The closer she got, the clearer she could see the newborn. Though his skin appeared a bit wrinkled, he was so tiny and endearing, making him irresistibly lovable.
Xiao Ru carefully extended her finger and gently poked Jian Qingtian’s cheek, then exclaimed in delight, “Wow, his skin is so smooth and bouncy. It’s as tender as, as…”
At this point, Xiao Ru was at a loss for words to describe it. Li Minchun wasn’t in a hurry, though; she just kept smiling at her.
Finally, Xiao Ru remembered and excitedly said, “His cheeks are like steamed egg custard!”
“Ha ha, that’s a pretty apt description,” Jian Yiqing said, appearing in the room without them noticing. Watching them filled his heart with contentment.
He placed a bowl on the table and handed a basket to Xiao Ru, saying, “Xiao Ru, take this to your house and give it to your mom.”
Xiao Ru nodded, said thank you, and then skipped away with the basket.
Jian Yiqing picked up the bowl and brought it to Li Minchun’s side, saying somewhat awkwardly, “On Zhenmu Island, there’s nothing but fish and shrimp.”
They’d been living here long enough to know that.
The land on this island was scarce, making it nearly impossible to grow crops. Plus, the constant rise and fall of the surrounding seawater didn’t allow for any agriculture to thrive.
Fortunately, there were plenty of fish and shrimp to provide ample food for the people here.
As a result, generations of Zhenmu Island residents have lived off these resources.
“No, I really like eating fish, didn’t you know?” Li Minchun said with a smile, taking the bowl and finishing it in no time.
Knowing that Li Minchun was trying to comfort him, Jian Yiqing felt even more heartbroken.
But Li Minchun continued to smile and said, “Isn’t it just fish and shrimp every day? What’s the big deal? If you want, I think we could still leave this place.”
“You know a way to leave here?” The thought piqued Jian Yiqing’s interest, as he still had many things left undone.
Previously, they stayed on Zhenmu Island to ensure that Li Minchun could safely give birth to their child. Now that the child was born, their next step was to figure out a way to leave the island.
After all, Zhenmu Island was not suitable for their long-term residence. Unless they could resolve everything from the outside world, they couldn’t live here without distractions.
“I’m not sure yet, but don’t worry. If we could get in here, then we’ll surely find a safe way out,” Li Minchun said with confidence showing on her face.
However, there was something even more crucial she hadn’t mentioned-the need to search the deep ocean surrounding Zhenmu Island for a treasure called Yuekang Soil.
It’s already been preliminarily determined that Jian Yiqing was afflicted by the soul-terror toxin, and in order to neutralize the toxin, they needed Yuekang Soil.
It’s believed that no place in the world could contain more treasures than the waters around Zhenmu Island.
Their immediate task was to scour every inch of the surrounding sea before leaving the island, with a steadfast mission to find the Yuekang Soil.
“I know you want a peaceful life, but unfortunately, I can’t continue with you just yet. As you know, we have more important things to do. We can’t be selfish and leave our friends behind to enjoy tranquility, can we?”
As he spoke, Jian Yiqing pulled Li Minchun tightly into his embrace. He felt an immense sense of remorse for this woman. In every aspect, he had always felt indebted to Li Minchun. He believed he couldn’t repay her even with a lifetime.
But Li Minchun just smiled and held him tightly as well. In her heart, she was constantly thinking about how she could extend his life and rid his body of the toxin.
