Taboo Mage - Chapter 71 - The Psychologist is a Beauty
If that’s really the case, Liu Hong’s mouth is truly despicable.
However, on the other hand, with that mouth of his, it’s uncertain how many people he has provoked, and it’s not like he just happened to run into Li Jianjun.
At the end of the day, you could say it’s his bad luck. I glanced at Li Jianjun with a hint of sympathy, quickly sweeping my gaze to Jue Chi, who was sitting on the side.
Jue Chi twirled a walnut rosary in his hands, his gaze fixed on a corner of the interrogation room, obviously distracted. However, I couldn’t guess what he was thinking.
Li Jianjun grew more and more angry as he spoke, his handcuffs clanging loudly on the table, his eyes filled with a crimson fury. Seeing that the situation was a bit off, I reached out and tugged at a police officer nearby.
The police officer seemed shocked as well; I had never seen such a scenario before, where a person, who was normal just a blink ago, turned wild like a beast.
“Could it be a split personality?” I asked the police officer as we left the interrogation room.
The officer shook his head, indicating that he couldn’t be sure for now; a psychologist had already been summoned from downtown to conduct a full psychological assessment on Li Jianjun.
I nodded, under normal circumstances, the police were doing everything right, but it didn’t rule out other possibilities.
“What, did you notice anything?”
After sending off the police officer, I saw Jue Chi still standing at the doorway of the interrogation room, his eyes unblinkingly fixed on Li Jianjun locked inside.
Jue Chi shook his head and pointed towards the glass door, “Didn’t you notice? Li Jianjun’s movements and demeanor, it’s like he’s become a different person.”
“I noticed, the police officer already mentioned that a psychologist is coming. We can’t help much here, let’s think about where to get a car instead… Hey, you seemed quite familiar with that officer, why don’t you ask?”
I pulled on Jue Chi’s sleeve to leave, my gaze discreetly sweeping behind me. A thin layer of dark energy hovered above the interrogation room, not very clear, but my sixth sense told me, there definitely was something abnormal going on there.
The police tape at the service area had not been removed yet, and everyone present was isolated for interrogation. Thanks to my connection with Jue Chi and that police officer, I was able to move around freely, which also put a bit of pressure on me.
I realized that Jue Chi wasn’t as detached from the world as he appeared, especially considering his relationship with the police officer.
“These things don’t matter.”
Under my persistent questioning, Jue Chi finally turned, glanced at me, and coldly dropped that remark.
“Hey! How can you say it doesn’t matter? What then is important? Since I’m bored right now, I think this is the most important thing!”
To avoid my further questions, Jue Chi fled from the door of the interrogation room to the back of a police car, drawing the attention of a group of armed police officers carrying rifles.
I cleared my throat, planning to climb back into the car to continue my nap, but that police officer suddenly kicked the car door open again.
“Gu Qingshu, stop sleeping. The city’s psychologist has arrived. Go check it out.”
“Damn! Did she travel by rocket or what? Besides, I’m not a police officer, why should I go see her!”
Rubbing my messy hair, I sat up in the car. If it weren’t for the pistol at the police officer’s waist, I might have kicked him right in the head.
The police officer gave me a cool look, touched the gun at his waist, and then turned to walk towards the interrogation room.
I chickened out, I admit defeat…
The legendary psychologist turned out to be a young woman around twenty-five, dressed in casual attire with her long hair tied back in a ponytail. When she saw me, she curled her lips into a smile, revealing a pair of cute little fangs.
“Hello, I’m Song Yu.”
“I’m Gu Qingshu, and this is Jue Chi.”
Seeing such a cheerful and lively young woman, completely different from the image of psychologists I had seen on TV, I got excited and spoke without thinking.
Jue Chi gave me a cold look and then slapped me on the back with his hand.
“Sorry, I need to get to work.”
I glanced up and glared at Jue Chi, while Song Yu chuckled, holding a small box and heading toward the interrogation room.
I hurried after her, and Song Yu turned back, looking puzzled at the police officer standing at the door of the interrogation room.
“Mr. Cao, this…”
“It’s fine, let them in.”
With a wave of his hand, the officer allowed us entry, and I walked in, grinning, pulling Jue Chi along with me.
The psychological inquiry was straightforward, nothing like the mysterious proceedings you see on TV shows. Song Yu started by giving Li Jianjun a set of test questions, then asked him some routine questions.
Though these questions seemed unrelated, that’s how psychology appears to be: profoundly enigmatic to the point of seeming a bit mad.
After coming out, Song Yu first went to find Mr. Cao, while Jue Chi and I were left waiting outside. Jue Chi leaned against a pillar, his eyes closed, perhaps asleep again.
Bored, I looked around and then squatted next to an armed police officer, lighting a cigarette and taking a deep drag before looking up at him, “Want a drag?”
“No thanks.”
“It’s fine, not smoking is actually better. Smoking for a long time is bad for your lungs.”
I spread my hands to demonstrate, and the armed police officer glanced at me, “Do you need something?”
“Yes!” I stood up, dropped my half-smoked cigarette to the ground, and stamped it out with my foot. “When can Li Jianjun be released?”
“You shouldn’t pry into things that aren’t your concern,” the armed police officer said coldly, giving me a sharp look.
I pursed my lips, about to speak, when Jue Chi suddenly walked quickly from the entrance of the interrogation room, his expression stern, his prayer beads nowhere to be seen.
“Qingshu, there’s a problem.”
“Huh? Now you need me? When I was asking you earlier, why did you disappear so fast!”
I snorted, my feet unconsciously moving towards Jue Chi.
Hearing my words, Jue Chi frowned, “Stop it, there might really be a problem this time.”
It was rare to see Jue Chi so serious; a chill ran through me as I hurried after him.
Jue Chi walked to a corner and stopped, looking around before speaking in a low voice, “Did you see the dark energy above the interrogation room?”
“I did, but it’s rare for a place to be completely devoid of dark energy. Besides, with so many police officers around, nothing can go wrong.”
