When Jue Chi arrived, I was lying in bed resting, while the little fox, eager to speak a day earlier, had been clutching the meditation cushion in front of the Buddha statue.

Hearing the noise, I groggily woke up and opened my eyes to see Jue Chi holding the little fox gently, looking at me with a tender expression.

I rubbed my messy hair. “Something dirty in my house? Impossible, we have our old man holding the fort!”

“That thing knows how to hide its Yin Energy. You just didn’t perceive it,” Jue Chi shook his head, his expression unusually serious.

Startled, I knew that although Jue Chi, the monk, might be a bit mouthy at times, he never lied, especially about such matters.

I rolled out of bed and told him about Du Jun.

Holding the little fox, Jue Chi glanced up at the room where Du Jun was sleeping as he descended the stairs. He remained silent, only murmuring a Sutra before hanging Buddhist prayer beads on the hook at the door of Du Jun’s room.

“It looks like you’re planning a trip to Thailand?” Jue Chi continued, back in the living room.

I nodded. “Of course, I promised Du Jun. Monk, you’ll come with me, won’t you?”

“Why should I go? I don’t speak Thai, I don’t like going out, let alone going abroad.”

Unexpectedly, Jue Chi, the bald monk, flatly refused without a second thought.

I was stunned for a moment, squinting my eyes, and said, “I remember, your master, before he left, specifically told you to take good care of me!”

“How do you know…”

“Don’t worry about how I know! The point is I do know! Your master was indebted to our Gu Family. Although he helped me once and said that settled the debt, didn’t he also instruct you to take good care of me?”

I chuckled mischievously. Originally, I hadn’t planned to tell him about this so soon, but given the potential dangers of this trip to Thailand, I had to bring Jue Chi along for my own safety!

Footsteps came from upstairs as Du Jun and Lin Huan, both awake, came down. Upon seeing Jue Chi, Lin Huan greeted him cheerfully and turned to introduce him to Du Jun.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jue Chi sitting nearby. Ever since Du Jun arrived, Jue Chi had been watching him closely. Du Jun scratched his head, looking at me in confusion.

“This is Master Jue Chi. He will be accompanying us to Thailand this time,” I explained.

Du Jun nodded and greeted Jue Chi with a smile. Jue Chi then turned to me and asked where the Buddha amulet had been placed.

To prevent any mishaps with the amulet, I had deliberately placed it under Grandfather’s ancestral tablet, letting the old man suppress it.

I asked Lin Huan to bring the amulet. Jue Chi held the amulet in his hand, closed his eyes, chanted something, and then opened his eyes, shaking his head toward me.

“Qingshu, I advise you to reconsider the trip to Thailand.”

“Why?” I asked, frowning.

It seemed the situation was more serious than I had imagined. I glanced at Du Jun, who looked visibly troubled at Jue Chi’s words but remained silent.

Du Jun rewrapped the Buddha amulet, handed it to Lin Huan, and instructed him to return it to its place. Only then did he speak, “If I’m not mistaken, the entity within this Buddha amulet is likely an evil deity from Thailand.”

“What kind of entity is that?” I asked curiously.

I have never really understood much about Thai culture.

According to Jue Chi, Thailand is a country with numerous deities. These deities differ from those in China, which have more distinct hierarchies.

Thai deities are more akin to those in ancient societies, where power determines rank. This sometimes leads many deities to fall into evil paths, becoming evil deities and causing harm.

“So, does that mean this thing can’t be dealt with?” I frowned.

“Not exactly. An evil deity isn’t an ordinary spirit. Even someone with advanced Taoist cultivation can’t just bind an evil deity inside a Buddha amulet. There’s only one possibility: someone has been offering a spirit to an evil deity’s statue for a long time, causing a Resentful Spirit to absorb the evil deity’s aura.”

After listening for a while, I finally understood. The spirit within Du Jun’s Buddha amulet is likely a subordinate of the evil deity. Jue Chi is worried that if we try to deal with the subordinate, the evil deity might retaliate.

Even dealing with an evil spirit is tough for us, let alone a legendary evil deity. Together, Jue Chi and I wouldn’t stand a chance.

Moreover, it would be on their turf.

I began to hesitate. Seeing my wavering resolve, Du Jun knelt down again, crying and pleading with tears and snot.

We both nodded, committing to the trip to Thailand. The next step was to properly prepare for the journey.

As for tickets and hotels, we didn’t need to worry. Du Jun had already arranged everything for us. Our task was to prepare some essential items.

When we went to Shenyang, being within China, many things were readily available. But now that we’re heading to Thailand, diving in unprepared would only bring us trouble.
