Symbiosis - chapter 19
After spending two days with Yanyan, Lin Yuan suddenly had the whim to drag me to Tibet.
Boss Xiao, who runs the pub, came along with us. When he saw me, he gave a slight nod.
“Boss Xiao has gotten even cooler.”
“When is Boss Xiao ever not cool?” Lin Yuan waved her hand, ushering me to hurry into the car. She didn’t give Boss Xiao a single chance to speak.
Boss Xiao, however, remained completely unfazed, even arching an eyebrow slightly.
This trip lasted for over twenty days.
Lin Yuan’s mood fluctuated like a rollercoaster. One second, she would be laughing her heart out. The next, she’d be wrapped in a large shawl, sitting cross-legged on the roof of the car, tears streaming down her face as she gazed at the vast expanse in the distance.
It wasn’t actually that she was particularly sad. It was just that the world is so vast and humans are so small. Love, hate, sorrow, and joy-it all felt insignificant, as if everything could be let go.
But when you pull back your gaze and lower your head, you are still trapped in your own little corner, living in a state of constant anxiety.
Qi Sinian was searching for me like a madman.
He went to Peach Blossom Village. He even returned to that city he hadn’t been willing to set foot in for years. Finally, he went to Qi Muyuan to beg for help.
“He’s not in a good state. He had hallucinations a couple of days ago, insisting he saw you. He almost got hit by a car.”
I listened in silence before giving a simple “Mhm.”
“I see.”
Qi Muyuan fell silent as well. After a long pause, he asked, “Is she… doing okay?”
“Big Brother,” I said flatly, “if this is an information exchange, you don’t need to tell me.”
Qi Muyuan was left speechless. “Never mind, I was just asking. She doesn’t have many friends. It’s good that you’re looking out for her.”
On the twenty-fifth day, we returned to Peach Blossom Village. I didn’t linger; I took a shower, changed my clothes, and immediately set off to see Yanyan.
By the time the plane landed, it was already night.
Lin Yuan called me. “Qi Sinian was just here. He left when he heard you weren’t around.”
“Something’s wrong with him. He’s incredibly gloomy. Be careful.”
