chapter 13
Qi Sinian brought Tan Qingqing back with him.
Since staying abroad wasn’t safe either, he figured it was better to keep her by his side.
A week after they returned, I hadn’t received the divorce papers from Qi Sinian, but I did receive news that he had laid a hand on Yanyan.
I immediately packed my things to leave.
Lin Yuan grabbed me. “What are you doing?”
My face was expressionless. “To kill someone.”
Qi Muyuan was the one who told me what happened.
He said Yanyan and Tan Qingqing had gotten into a conflict.
For some unknown reason, Yanyan had bitten Tan Qingqing’s arm.
To make Yanyan let go and to protect Tan Qingqing, Qi Sinian had sent Yanyan flying.
“It’s not serious, just superficial injuries.”
“Why are you telling me this?”
“I know Lin Yuan is with you.”
“I won’t help you.”
He gave a light chuckle. “That’s fine.”
After getting off the plane, I went straight to the old family residence.
This was only the second time I had stepped through the gates of the old residence.
The Old Master frowned. Seeing me, he only said, “He just fell asleep. Keep your voice down.”
I nodded and entered Yanyan’s room.
The little guy was fast asleep, his arm outside the covers, clutching a plushie.
I could clearly see the slight bump on his forehead and the bruise near his eyebrow.
I moved quietly, crouching by his bed. I stroked his cheek and kissed his forehead.
Finally, I placed the ceramic kitten by his pillow.
I stood up and left.
I didn’t go back to the villa. Instead, I went straight to the apartment near Qi Sinian’s company.
I entered the passcode and went inside.
Qi Sinian was in the kitchen.
I snatched a vase off the dining table and didn’t stop. The moment Qi Sinian turned around, without the slightest hesitation, I smashed the vase over his head.
Qi Sinian let out a scream of pain.
Tan Qingqing, wearing a nightgown, let out a shrill cry of “Uncle!”
“Don’t come over!” Qi Sinian shouted.
As if she would listen.
I charged straight at her, grabbing her by the throat. Under her terrified gaze, I shoved her back repeatedly.
Until her waist hit the windowsill and her upper body dangled out over the edge.
“Uncle, save me!”
“Ning Yan…”
“Don’t move,” I said softly.
Looking back, I saw Qi Sinian clutching his forehead, blood seeping through his fingers. He was a pathetic sight.
His eyes were full of resentment, but he didn’t dare take a single step.
“Qi Sinian, don’t provoke me. I don’t want to go down with you just yet.”
I had Yanyan.
He made me feel that life wasn’t so dull after all.
Why did they have to provoke me?
“And you,” I said, looking coldly at Tan Qingqing. “Stay away from my son. No matter the reason, no matter the cause, if you dare go near my son again, I will throw you off this building.”
