Chapter 95
Chapter 95
Xia Wanzhi froze for a long moment.
Then, uncertain, she asked again, “What did you say? Say that again?”
Xie Qiyan pulled away the hand she had pressed over his cheek and explained, “I happen to have a business trip to the UK branch office…”
“Oh, keep making things up.” Xia Wanzhi exposed him without a shred of mercy. “Go on, make up some more. See if I believe you.”
Xie Qiyan: “…”
“Fine. I admit it. I just don’t want to leave you.” Xie Qiyan looked exceptionally serious. “Not even for one day.”
In truth, he wanted to take this opportunity to visit Xia Wanzhi’s family.
Xia Wanzhi found him so adorable that she hugged his head and affectionately nuzzled the corner of his lips. “Aww, my Xie Kitty is so clingy.”
Xie Qiyan: “…”
“I’m being serious.” Xie Qiyan pulled her hand down again.
“I know. You want an official title.” They kissed every single day now, so Xia Wanzhi could tell what he was thinking just from one look in his eyes.
Once he took off his glasses, those eyes of his couldn’t hide a thing.
Especially when he had no defenses up around her at all.
On a spiritual level, she and Xie Qiyan had already become one.
“After my dad found out about us pretending to be a couple last time, he was really angry. He ignored me for days.” Xia Wanzhi’s expression drooped. “So they still don’t know we’re actually together, but I’ll talk to my mom first in a bit. She’ll definitely be on my side.”
“I know.” Xie Qiyan’s breathing rose and fell. “That’s why no matter what their attitude is, I should bear it with you and face it with you. Teacher Xia, take me home.”
He was already prepared.
“Aren’t you nervous at all?” Back when she went home with him to the Xie Family, she had been so nervous she could barely stand it.
Xie Qiyan’s features softened. “I am nervous. But I can’t wait anymore.”
Xia Wanzhi pressed her lips together and swallowed awkwardly.
She knew what Xie Qiyan meant.
Everyone around them said their relationship had heated up too quickly.
Xia Wanzhi knew that too, but she simply couldn’t control it.
They were both adults. No one understood what their own body was feeling better than themselves. They could even sense exactly what the other person was feeling.
The affection between them was passionate and unrestrained.
Utterly intoxicating.
Sometimes, Xia Wanzhi would also doubt whether it was all too unreal.
But the moment she saw Xie Qiyan, all those concerns were instantly thrown to the back of her mind.
She was certain she liked Xie Qiyan.
Liked him so, so much.
And that was enough.
“Then it’s settled.” Xia Wanzhi braced her hands on his shoulders and climbed off his lap. As she left, she glanced at his legs like a little hooligan, then blushed and pattered off to grab her phone. She sat right down on the floor and started typing away at top speed.
Xie Qiyan lowered his head to look at the spot Xia Wanzhi had just glanced at. Too lazy to respond to that, he asked about the important matter first. “You’ve decided to take me to meet your parents?”
“Mm-hmm!” Xia Wanzhi nodded hard. “I’ve decided. This year, I’ll give you to Grandpa as a present!”
Xie Qiyan: “…”
That sounded a little terrifying.
“Take that back and say it again,” Xie Qiyan ordered.
Xia Wanzhi raised her brows slightly. “I said it wrong. I’m giving Grandpa a future grandson-in-law.”
Only then was Xie Qiyan satisfied. He finally rose stiffly to his feet. “I’m going back to shower first.”
Xia Wanzhi blinked, her expression all innocence. “Need help?”
As Xie Qiyan walked away, he looked back. “Come if you’ve got the guts.”
Xia Wanzhi clicked her tongue.
Clearly, he was the one who didn’t have the guts.
As for that side of things, she had actually hinted, very subtly, that she was willing.
But Xie Qiyan said they couldn’t.
He said marital duties could only be performed after they were husband and wife.
What had happened with his parents’ generation had left deep scars on him. Xia Wanzhi knew that. He cared about status-about having a rightful place.
He wanted to be the person who belonged beside her in name and in truth.
And once he took that step, he would be responsible for her forever. He would never give her the chance to regret it.
The message she sent to Ms. Ross received a reply very quickly. Ms. Ross sent over a barrage of 99+ exclamation-mark stickers in a row.
Xia Wanzhi stared at the screen until her phone finally stopped vibrating, then typed two words and sent them over: [Mommy!]
Ms. Ross: [You’re together? Really together? You’re not lying to me?]
Xia Wanzhi: [If I’m lying, may I gain ten pounds.]
Ms. Ross was utterly unable to calm down: [My baby, you’ve only just gotten together and you already dare to bring him to meet your grandfather! You’re even braver than Mommy was back then!]
Xia Wanzhi immediately pictured Mr. Richard’s fierce expression. “…”
Xia Wanzhi: [How about you teach me how you got Grandpa to accept Dad back then…]
Ms. Ross: [First cry, then make a scene, then threaten to hang yourself.]
Xia Wanzhi: […]
In the blink of an eye, the seventh arrived, and Xia Wanzhi set off with Xie Qiyan on a journey of crying, making a scene, and threatening to hang herself.
Only Ms. Ross knew that Xia Wanzhi was bringing Xie Qiyan to the UK to meet the family. After all, when Comrade Old Xia had found out that she and Xie Qiyan were only pretending to be a couple, he’d felt like all his sincere feelings had been fed to the dogs and had sulked for a full three days without speaking to Xia Wanzhi.
Now that they were a real couple, Xia Yongqing probably wouldn’t accept it easily either.
Xia Wanzhi was a little anxious.
She was afraid Xie Qiyan would be swept right out the door.
But Xie Qiyan himself was exceptionally relaxed. He called the flight attendant over and asked for a blanket, then wrapped Xia Wanzhi inside it too. “Princess, don’t overthink it. Sleep.”
Xia Wanzhi was forcibly pressed against his shoulder. “…”
After arriving in the UK, Xia Wanzhi played it safe and booked a hotel room outside with Xie Qiyan. The two of them adjusted to the time difference first, and only after Xia Wanzhi had recovered her energy the next day did she enter… the palace.
And really, what else could it be called but a palace?
A magnificent, resplendent palace.
The one thing the Becker Family lacked least was money.
This castle, practically reeking of wealth, was the palace Richard Becker had built as a token of love for Ms. Qiao Shu.
The moment she got out of the car, before she had even stepped over the threshold, the maids and bodyguards lined up in two rows bowed to her in perfect unison. “Welcome home, Little Princess-”
This again!
That familiar, clumsy Chinese.
The corner of Xia Wanzhi’s mouth twitched slightly as she stepped onto the red carpet laid out to welcome her.
“Wanzi-” From far away, Mr. Richard had already opened his arms and was walking toward her.
“Xiao Wanzi-” Ms. Qiao Shu waved at her.
“Oh, my baby-” Ms. Ross rushed toward her with boundless enthusiasm.
Xia Yongqing loosely raised a fist to his mouth and coughed. Once Xia Wanzhi came closer, he kept staring at her, secretly checking whether she had lost weight and whether she looked well.
Xia Wanzhi was hugged so tightly by her overly enthusiastic family that she could barely breathe. “Stop, stop, stop! Wanzi is about to be squeezed into a meat pie!”
She was ushered inside amid the crowd. Ms. Ross stayed at the back, repeatedly glancing behind her.
Xia Yongqing turned back to take her hand. “What are you looking at?”
“Your daughter’s boy-” Ms. Ross slammed on the brakes just in time.
“Hahaha, nothing.”
Xia Yongqing looked at her suspiciously. A bad feeling rose in his heart.
That ominous sixth sense was very strong.
The kind of palpitation that came before a storm.
