Chapter 79
Chapter 79
In the past, whenever they met, they would almost always end up bickering. Now that they were together, they were instead unanimously quiet. Their fingers were tightly intertwined, warmth passing between them. Xia Wanzhi hadn’t walked for long before she got tired. Ten minutes was already her limit.
Someone who didn’t like standing naturally didn’t like walking either.
“This neighborhood is huge,” Xia Wanzhi said with feeling.
“Tired?” Xie Qiyan could clearly sense that she had wilted.
“How could I be? I just miss Changsheng,” Xia Wanzhi said with a perfectly serious face, spouting complete nonsense.
Xie Qiyan laughed despite himself. As he turned around and started walking back, he played along. “Mm. I miss it too. Changsheng would definitely be touched if it knew.”
Xia Wanzhi: “…”
Just then, a young couple happened to pass by not far away. The girl seemed to be drunk and was lying on the man’s back.
Xie Qiyan glanced at them a couple of times. After walking a little farther, he suddenly stopped.
Xia Wanzhi hastily declined. “No, thank you.”
Don’t think she didn’t know what he was thinking.
Xie Qiyan smiled. “What are you thinking? I just wanted to ask if you could let me experience what it feels like to be a boyfriend.”
A cluster of question marks popped up over Xia Wanzhi’s head. “What do you mean?”
“Simply put, can I carry you on my back?”
Xia Wanzhi’s brow twitched.
She knew it!
But she still declined. “No need. Your girlfriend has legs.”
“Mm, got it,” Xie Qiyan said unhurriedly, slowing his pace even further.
“It’s fine.”
“I was only rejected by my girlfriend.”
“It’s nothing serious.”
Xia Wanzhi could not take it anymore. “Xie Qiyan!”
Xie Qiyan smiled faintly. “Right here.”
“Squat down.” If she didn’t let him have his way, that mouth of his could keep going until tomorrow. Xia Wanzhi patted his back and scolded him in embarrassed annoyance, “Why are you acting like some delicate little wife?”
Xie the Little Wife smiled smugly, tugged up his pant legs, and crouched down slightly. When he hoisted Xia Wanzhi onto his back, he even bounced her twice before commenting, “You’re so light. Where did all the meat you ate tonight go?”
Xia Wanzhi’s ears heated up. She wrapped her arms from behind him to the front and covered his mouth. “Xie Qiyan, don’t talk!”
In this position, her entire body was pressed against Xie Qiyan’s broad back. Summer clothes were thin, and when his firm back came into contact with something soft, Xie Qiyan stiffened. Then he smiled and said, “Not bad. It wasn’t eaten for nothing.”
Only when they reached her front door did Xia Wanzhi realize what Xie Qiyan’s last sentence meant. Her ears instantly burned. She struggled down, hopped off, and unlocked her door without looking back before going inside.
Xie Qiyan, shut outside the door: “…”
He had never been in a relationship before. This was his first time liking someone, so there were many things he had to learn on the spot.
But judging from the current situation, it seemed he might have gone a little overboard.
The way they acted didn’t look like a couple who had only been together for one day.
Xie Qiyan stood outside the door for a while. After quite some time, he politely rang the doorbell.
Xia Wanzhi opened the door with a dark expression. “What?”
“You don’t like it?” Xie Qiyan asked bluntly. “If you don’t like it, you can tell me. I’ll slow down appropriately. Of course, I may not necessarily be able to.”
Xia Wanzhi froze.
Xie Qiyan continued solemnly, “After all, my love for you runs deep.”
Xia Wanzhi: “…”
Their eyes met. Xia Wanzhi really couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing. As she laughed, she cursed, “Xie Qiyan, could you be any more childish? Who acts like this? Anyone who didn’t know better would think I was dating some elementary school brat.”
“Can’t be helped. It’s my first time. Please be patient with me, Teacher Wanzi.” In just a few movements, Xie Qiyan squeezed through the crack in the door and into Xia Wanzhi’s home. He naturally changed into slippers, went to the bathroom to wash his hands, then came back out. “Or you can teach me how to date.”
Xia Wanzhi ignored his elementary-school-brat behavior and picked out a bottle of medicine for swelling and pain relief from the medicine they had bought today. “Come here. Let me put medicine on you.”
Aside from being surprised by Xie Qiyan’s changes, what she felt more than anything was happiness.
So many emotions were tangled together inside her, leaving her unable to calm down for a long time.
Being in love really did make people lose their heads.
Not her.
Xie Qiyan had lost his head even more than she had.
The domineering CEO had transformed straight into an elementary school brat.
Whenever Xia Wanzhi thought back on everything he had said and done today, she couldn’t help laughing.
Xie Qiyan had his back to her. After taking off his suit jacket, he began undoing the buttons of his shirt one by one. By the time Xia Wanzhi unscrewed the bottle of medicine, dipped a cotton swab into it, and turned her head, she saw that he had already shrugged his shirt halfway off.
The man’s strong, tempting physique was just exposed to the air like that.
Completely without warning.
Xia Wanzhi’s hand trembled at the sight.
“D-d-don’t take off any more!” Xia Wanzhi hurriedly stopped him, her wide eyes meeting Xie Qiyan’s half-smiling gaze as he looked back over his shoulder.
Xia Wanzhi: “…”
Fine, fine, so he wanted to be this shamelessly seductive, did he?
But she really couldn’t take it…
“Xie Qiyan, I think I need to explain something. We just started dating. You don’t have to be this generous.” Xia Wanzhi was on the verge of tears. If he kept seducing her like this every day, she really wouldn’t be able to hold back.
Xie Qiyan was secretly delighted, but on the surface he put on an utterly pure and innocent expression. “What are you thinking? This shirt costs tens of thousands. It’d be a shame if I accidentally got it dirty.”
Xia Wanzhi: “…”
Fine. She was the dirty-minded one.
Taking a deep breath, Xia Wanzhi decided not to argue with him. She reached out and poked the spot at the back of his waist. “Does it hurt here?”
Xie Qiyan’s entire back tensed on reflex.
Xia Wanzhi nearly burst out laughing at his reaction. “Ahem. Don’t be nervous, President Xie. Relax, relax.”
She could see it now. Xie Qiyan might know how to tease and flirt, but deep down he was ridiculously innocent.
Xie Qiyan’s Adam’s apple bobbed silently, his voice hoarse. “Don’t touch it. Just this area. Put some on casually and that’s enough.”
Great. He had played himself into a corner.
This was fatal.
Exhaling softly, Xie Qiyan tried, without making it obvious, to put his shirt back on.
Xia Wanzhi scolded him, “Don’t move. The medicine hasn’t dried yet. That shirt costs tens of thousands, doesn’t it? It’d be such a shame if you got it dirty.”
Xie Qiyan: “…”
Holding back a laugh, Xia Wanzhi dipped the cotton swab in medicine and gently applied it in slow circles to the back of his waist.
Xie Qiyan clenched his hand. The cool, tingling sensation was enough to make his blood rush. The blue veins on his forearm stood out especially clearly, and his self-control seemed to have reached its limit.
Then Xia Wanzhi deliberately poked his skin, and he flinched, nearly letting out a muffled groan.
Xia Wanzhi raised her brows smugly. “President Xie, why don’t you just go back shirtless later? Don’t wear that shirt that costs tens of thousands. Be careful not to get it dirty.”
Xie Qiyan closed his eyes. “…”
Jokes aside, Xia Wanzhi could tell that he really was in pain. When she woke up that morning and saw a face suddenly enlarged in front of her, she had genuinely been frightened, so the kick she had reflexively given him had used almost all her strength.
“Does it hurt a lot?” Xia Wanzhi’s voice carried a trace of guilt.
Xie Qiyan turned around, his shirt hanging half off him. Seeing the worry on Xia Wanzhi’s bright face, he raised a hand and rubbed her head, then said slowly, “It won’t kill me. It’ll be fine in a few days. Don’t worry.”
“Who told you to get into my bed?” Xia Wanzhi muttered under her breath, grabbing his hand and holding it in her palm.
“Weren’t you the one who said I should sleep with you?” Xie Qiyan shifted the blame with a perfectly serious face.
Xia Wanzhi refused to debate with him. She stood up and pushed him toward the door. “After you shower before bed, apply this medicine again yourself. If it still hurts a lot, tell me and we’ll go to the hospital.”
Xie Qiyan turned his head. “You’re not going to help me apply it?”
Xia Wanzhi said, “You have hands.”
Xie Qiyan reasoned with her. “One should see things through from beginning to end. I’ll come find you at twelve to have the medicine applied.”
There was no room for negotiation in his tone.
Unable to win against him, Xia Wanzhi could only brush him off. “We’ll see, we’ll see.”
The door opened, and the shirtless Xie Qiyan was pushed out. Before he could even stand properly, he turned his head and met Xie Tan’s wide eyes. She had two ponytails and was staring right back at him.
Clutching the straps of her backpack, Xie Tan squeezed her eyes shut and spun around. “Aaaaaah! I didn’t see anything!”
At that shriek, Xia Wanzhi poked her head out and hurriedly explained, “Stop your brain! Stop your brain right now! It’s not what you’re thinking, my baby!”
Xie Qiyan never missed a chance to take advantage of someone. In a few quick movements, he put on the tens-of-thousands-yuan shirt he had supposedly been so reluctant to dirty, then tossed out lightly, “An explanation is just a cover-up.”
Xia Wanzhi was speechless. “…”
