Six Years Later: Wrecking His World with Quadruplets - Chapter 193
Chapter 193
Nan Zhiyi understood the gravity of the situation and immediately replied, “I’m coming over now.”
“Alright.”
After hanging up, Nan Zhiyi took off the lab coat she had just put on. She hurriedly threw on her coat and headed out the door.
Half an hour later, she arrived at the Di Corporation Research Department.
Upon entering, the atmosphere in Research Lab 2 was incredibly somber and oppressive. It was as if a shadow hung over everyone’s face; they looked lost and overwhelmed, unsure of how to handle this sudden crisis.
Lin Zhizhi was among them.
Nan Zhiyi rushed over and asked, “What’s the situation? How did the formula leak out of nowhere?”
Lin Zhizhi shook her head. “I don’t know either! Management already knows about it, and things are getting serious…”
Nan Zhiyi was well aware of the consequences. This involved the theft of someone else’s hard work and the disclosure of company secrets, which would result in massive losses for Di Corporation.
As the one who had refined the formula, Nan Zhiyi naturally found this behavior unacceptable. The Ling Group had effortlessly snatched the results of her painstaking optimization and was now claiming it as their own new product…
What she loathed most was people profiting from work they hadn’t done.
As the head of Research Lab 2 and a participant in the perfume’s development, Lin Zhizhi felt the same way. She gritted her teeth, her anger palpable as she said indignantly, “I really didn’t expect a massive conglomerate like the Ling Group to use such underhanded tactics to steal someone else’s work. It’s despicable!”
Nan Zhiyi calmed herself and thought it through. “It might not necessarily be that they used illegal means to get it.”
Lin Zhizhi was puzzled. “They’ve already started taking pre-orders. How could their methods be anything but illegal?”
Nan Zhiyi reminded her, “It’s possible that someone inside Di Corporation made a private deal with the Ling Family and sold the formula… If they paid for it, they have a leg to stand on.”
“On the contrary, for our side… the leak could only have been done by a mole. So for now, we have to root that person out and deal with them first. Only then can we calculate the specific losses and determine the future ownership of that perfume.”
Thinking of this gave Nan Zhiyi a bit of a headache. However, she quickly composed herself and questioned Lin Zhizhi first. “Tell me, after I handed the formula to you, whose hands has it passed through over these past few days?”
Lin Zhizhi had already been questioned by Zhou Yi, so she answered promptly, “Myself, Xia Chenchen, and Tian Zirui.”
Nan Zhiyi knew the other two. They were veteran members of Research Lab 2 and were quite capable. She nodded and asked again, “Are you sure it was only the three of you?”
Since finding out what happened, Lin Zhizhi had replayed the events in her mind several times. She said with certainty, “During working hours, it was indeed only the three of us.”
“As for after hours, the computers are locked. It’s impossible for anyone to touch them because I’m the only one who knows the password to the Research Lab 2 mainframe, and only I can turn it on.”
At this point, Lin Zhizhi felt the need to prove her innocence. she quickly raised her hand and declared, “Let me be clear, it really wasn’t me. I didn’t leak your refined formula. I would never do something like that… I have a grudge against the Ling Group. There’s no way I would do something so malicious and professionally unethical.”
Seeing how nervous she was, Nan Zhiyi gently lowered Lin Zhizhi’s hand and said with a slight smile, “I’m not suspecting you, don’t be so tense. But, why do you have a grudge against the Ling Group?”
“Because the Ling Group hired a shameless, unethical piece of shit. I wouldn’t dream of associating with such a bottom-feeding company!”
Lin Zhizhi spoke through gritted teeth, her face flushed with resentment.
Nan Zhiyi was quite surprised; she hadn’t expected her colleague to be so emotional. However, she wasn’t the gossiping type, and assuming Lin Zhizhi wouldn’t want to go into detail, she simply nodded and brought the conversation back to the matter at hand.
“Based on what you’ve said, it seems Xia Chenchen and Tian Zirui aren’t suspects either.”
After all, Research Institute 2 had surveillance cameras that could be checked.
Lin Zhizhi calmed herself down and nodded. “Assistant Zhou has already gone to check the footage. I also think it’s unlikely to be those two.”
Having heard Lin Zhizhi’s input, Nan Zhiyi had no other ideas for the time being. For now, it seemed they could only wait for the results.
Yet, for some reason, her eyelid began to twitch uncontrollably. She had a sudden, inexplicable sense of foreboding.
They waited for an hour, the tension in the air as heavy as if they were awaiting a verdict. However, there was still no word from Zhou Yi.
Feeling restless, Nan Zhiyi took a moment to go to the restroom, where she happened to run into Nan Wanyue.
In the past, Nan Wanyue would have certainly put on an act upon seeing Nan Zhiyi. But today, when their eyes met, Nan Wanyue was unusually quiet. As they brushed past each other, however, a faint, chilling glint flickered in the depths of her eyes.
Nan Zhiyi frowned, sensing a change in Nan Wanyue, but she didn’t give it much thought.
However, a few minutes after she returned to Research Lab 2, Lin Zhizhi hurried over. “Zhiyi, the President wants to see you in his office.”
To the office?
Nan Zhiyi suddenly recalled the strange look Nan Wanyue had given her in the restroom.
“Did he say what it’s about?” she asked Lin Zhizhi.
Lin Zhizhi shook her head. “No.”
Nan Zhiyi nodded and headed out. As she took the elevator upstairs, the bad feeling in her gut grew even stronger.
Upon entering the President’s Office, Nan Zhiyi immediately saw Di Shijing. He was sitting on a sofa by the floor-to-ceiling window. Not far away stood a middle-aged man in a suit.
Nan Zhiyi lowered her gaze slightly. She didn’t recognize the man, so she ignored him. Walking past him, she went straight to Di Shijing and asked, “You wanted to see me?”
Di Shijing nodded and asked calmly, “You know about the formula being stolen, right?”
Nan Zhiyi nodded. “I know.”
Di Shijing gave a slight hum of acknowledgment. “Good. Zhou Yi checked the surveillance footage and didn’t find the person responsible for the leak. However, we just received a tip from a high-level executive within the Ling Group.”
Nan Zhiyi’s hands instinctively curled into fists. She held her breath, staring at Di Shijing.
Her intuition told her that what he was about to say wouldn’t be good news.
Sure enough, in the next second, Di Shijing’s thin lips parted, and he uttered words that Nan Zhiyi never expected to hear.
“They claim that the person who sold the formula to the Ling Group was you.”
Nan Zhiyi froze, her face quickly filling with shock and disbelief. “Me?”
Di Shijing didn’t respond; he simply watched her, his silence confirming that she hadn’t misheard him.
