Six Years Later: Wrecking His World with Quadruplets - Chapter 177
Chapter 177
Why!
Why was her reputation in tatters while Nan Zhiyi could stand there, smiling and chatting, fitting in perfectly with the employees of Di Corporation?
Why was Nan Zhiyi so lucky? She didn’t have to do a single thing, yet those two old fogies of the Nan Family gave her company shares!
Why was she the one who caught Jing’s eye!
Meanwhile, despite all the effort she had put in, she still hadn’t won Jing’s heart!
How long did youth last? Her six years of waiting and devotion couldn’t even compare to the two children Nan Zhiyi had given birth to!
At this moment, the resentment in Nan Wanyue’s heart felt almost tangible.
Her animosity was so intense that Nan Zhiyi seemed to sense something. She turned her head toward the research lab’s window.
Her eyes met Nan Wanyue’s gaze directly.
The venomous expression on the other woman’s face was clear as day, making her look utterly hideous.
Nan Zhiyi arched an eyebrow. She didn’t care about Nan Wanyue’s hatred; she merely looked back with eyes full of contempt…
After finishing work that evening, Nan Zhiyi went straight home in a rather good mood.
As she walked through the door, she saw Hengheng on a video call with Mumu and the others.
Her grandparents were huddled beside him, watching the screen intently.
A sense of warmth filled Nan Zhiyi’s heart at the sight. She changed her shoes and immediately walked over.
“What are you all chatting about?”
As she approached, she entered the camera’s frame.
On the other side, the two little ones grew excited when they saw Nan Zhiyi appear. “Mommy!”
“Mommy, are you off work? I haven’t seen you in so many days, I missed you so much!” Mumu acted spoiled over the call.
“Mommy missed you and your brother, too,” Nan Zhiyi replied. She leaned in closer to the group and asked again, “What were you just talking about?”
“We were discussing with Brother Hengheng if there’s a way for us to see each other whenever we want,” the little girl replied in a lively voice.
Xianxian nodded and added, “We have an idea right now. Do you want to hear it, Mommy?”
“Of course!” Nan Zhiyi agreed.
Xianxian said, “Mumu and I are at home every day being taught by tutors. We rarely go out. So, we want to suggest to Daddy that we go to kindergarten. That way, we won’t be watched by people all day. It’ll be easier for Great-Grandpa, Great-Grandma, and Mommy to see us.”
Nan Zhiyi thought the suggestion sounded quite good.
The children were still young and should interact more with kids their own age. Moreover, they were very bright; even if they went to kindergarten, it wouldn’t hinder their studies.
However, this matter required Di Shijing’s consent.
“Will your daddy agree?” Nan Zhiyi asked.
Xianxian nodded confidently. “That won’t be a problem. Scumbag Daddy is a total daughter-con. As long as Mumu is the one to ask, he’ll definitely agree!”
He had seen too many instances of this happening with their daddy.
Seeing his exasperated expression toward Di Shijing, Nan Zhiyi found it a bit funny. “Then give it a try. If he doesn’t agree, we’ll think of something else.”
Mumu and Xianxian agreed.
After chatting for a while longer, they hung up the video call, and Xianxian immediately called Di Shijing.
As soon as the call connected, Xianxian asked directly, “Is Daddy coming home to eat dinner with us tonight?”
At that moment, Di Shijing was still at the office. He was quite surprised to receive a call from the little guy, and his tone unconsciously softened.
“I might have to work overtime tonight.”
Xianxian switched to a concerned tone and said, “Work is important, but you have to take care of your health and eat on time! Daddy, please come home tonight. Wanwan made some cookies this afternoon and wants to give them to you.”
Hearing his son’s milky voice and thinking of his daughter, Di Shijing felt a warmth in his heart. He abandoned all his principles and agreed, “Alright, Daddy will be home soon.”
Half an hour later, Di Shijing’s car returned to Imperial View Gardens.
Hearing the commotion, Mumu ran out to greet him, clutching a box of packaged cookies. The little girl smiled sweetly and held the exquisite cookie box out to her daddy.
Di Shijing’s heart softened instantly. A gentle smile spread across his face as he crouched down, scooped his daughter up into his arms, and headed toward the living room. As they walked, he didn’t forget to ask, “Daddy heard from your brother that you made these cookies yourself?”
Mumu nodded and wrote on her small notepad: “They aren’t too sweet. You should like them, Daddy.”
Di Shijing chuckled. He set her down on the sofa and cooperatively ate one, finding that they were indeed quite good.
“They’re delicious. Wanwan, you’re amazing!”
Being praised by her daddy made Mumu quite happy. Her little expression was full of pride, as if she were saying, Of course they are!
Her lively and vivid expressions were incredibly adorable. Seeing his usually silent daughter gradually becoming more spirited made Di Shijing very happy as well.
He thought to himself that this might be a sign of Wanwan’s recovery.
“Daddy, go wash your hands quickly. Dinner is ready!”
Xianxian had watched the whole scene and finally found an opportunity to chime in.
“Alright,” Di Shijing replied.
Mumu took the initiative to grab his hand, leading him toward the dining room.
During the meal, Xianxian noticed that his daddy was in a good mood, so he took the chance to speak up. “Daddy, we want to discuss something with you.”
Di Shijing served the two children some food as he replied, “Go ahead.”
“It’s like this-Wanwan and I are pretty bored staying at home all day doing nothing but studying. We want to go to kindergarten. Do you think that’s okay?”
Xianxian continued, “I asked Uncle Xiao, and he also suggested sending Wanwan to school. Interacting with other children might make her more interested in talking. I discussed this with Wanwan during the day, and she agreed!”
Di Shijing was somewhat surprised after hearing this.
The idea of sending the children to school wasn’t something he hadn’t considered before. However, Wanwan’s situation was special; no matter how much he tried to persuade her, she refused to interact with others.
She was willing now?
Di Shijing couldn’t help but look at his precious daughter and ask, “Are you really willing to go?”
Mumu knew it was her turn to perform. She immediately flashed a smile and nodded. Then, she pulled out her foolproof secret weapon, saying two words in a milky, childish voice, “I’m willing.”
Hearing his daughter speak again, Di Shijing felt both joyful and surprised. He hadn’t expected her to actually be willing to go!
Since that was the case, he had no reason to object. However…
“You can go, but I have one condition.”
Di Shijing spoke seriously to the little girl. “You have to say at least a few words to me every day, okay? Because going out means you’re going to try communicating with people. I’ll only agree to let you go to kindergarten if you’re willing to try opening your mouth.”
He didn’t want her to keep avoiding it like she had in the past.
Mumu had thought it would be some harsh condition. She hadn’t expected it to be just this!
What was the problem with that? Forget a few words-even ten or twenty words wouldn’t be a problem at all!
However, she couldn’t make it too obvious. So, she pretended to hesitate for a moment before nodding in agreement.
Seeing his daughter willing to take this step, Di Shijing was very satisfied. He pushed his luck and said, “Then let’s start practicing now. Why don’t you start by calling me ‘Daddy’?”
Mumu looked at him, thinking to herself that her daddy truly was a businessman-he had turned this into a deal so quickly!
But since she had already agreed, no matter how reluctant she felt, she could only honestly open her mouth and call out, “Daddy…”
Di Shijing was so charmed by that sweet, milky voice that his heart bloomed with joy. A rare, genuine laugh escaped him. “Good girl!”
