Summary
I am the Concubine-born Daughter of the Prime Minister’s Mansion. When the nation was in peril, as I fled for my life, I shared my rations with a beggar by the roadside, while my legitimate elder sister led our family to seek refuge with the general.
Later, the beggar led an uprising and seized power, and I was made empress, honored as the mother of the nation.
But my legitimate elder sister was reduced to a camp prostitute, forced to receive hundreds of men each day, living a fate worse than death.
Living my life over again, my legitimate elder sister slapped the sesame cake from my hand and handed her exquisite pastries to the beggar: “Eat. If it’s not enough, there’s more here.”
