seven-year itch - Chapter 16
I never truly intended to divorce Jiang Wan.
Even though I no longer loved her.
I still wouldn’t divorce her.
So a few days later, I decided to have an honest conversation with her.
I no longer hid what was going on between Zhou Qing and me.
I admitted I had cheated.
Admitted that I had, for a brief moment, fallen for someone else.
Finally, I said, “If you think it’s unfair, you can find someone too.”
I knew Jiang Wan would never find someone else.
Even if she didn’t love me, she wouldn’t go looking for someone else.
She was a perfectionist.
In both life and love.
Hearing this, Jiang Wan put down her book and looked at me with a mocking gaze.
“Gu Ming, are you done talking?”
She was too calm.
So calm that it infuriated me.
When I decided to have this serious talk with her, I had sent Huanhuan to my parents’ house.
Now, with just Jiang Wan and me at home, there was no need to keep up any pretense.
I slammed the table, placed my hands on my hips, and erupted in anger.
“I’ve already compromised. What more do you want?”
“Jiang Wan, do you think I ended up like this without you bearing any responsibility?”
“Have you fulfilled the duties of a wife?”
Jiang Wan’s expression remained disdainful, and there was even a hint of a smile at the corner of her lips.
Looking at the smile on her face, I suddenly realized something.
I reached out to grab the phone she had placed face-down on the coffee table.
But Jiang Wan snatched it away before I could.
She didn’t answer my questions. Instead, she spoke into the phone.
“Does this count as a clear admission?”
“Does this count as him voluntarily confessing to infidelity during the marriage?”
