seven-year itch - Chapter 10
Jiang Wan did not make the wise choice I had hoped for.
She laid it all out directly.
Though her words were phrased as a question, her tone left no room for doubt.
I knew that, given the current situation, any attempt to explain would be futile.
But I really didn’t want to admit it.
I had plenty of friends who had been caught cheating.
Thanks to their failed experiences, I’d learned one thing.
If I admitted it today, then in this relationship, and even in this family, I would forever be the one at fault.
It would put me at a disadvantage in every argument from now on.
I ruffled my hair and told a lie so ridiculous that even I found it laughable.
“Maybe.”
“Last night at the banquet, Assistant Zhou got drunk and threw up all over herself. It just so happened that her casual clothes were in the car, so I asked the waiter to take her to change. I didn’t expect that the waiter, for the sake of convenience, would actually help Assistant Zhou change her clothes right there in the car.”
“Of course, this was also Assistant Zhou’s negligence, which led to such an absurd misunderstanding.”
The more I spoke, the louder my voice became.
As if this was the truth of the matter.
But Jiang Wan wasn’t buying it.
She maintained the same expression, and even the corners of her mouth curled into a faint, ambiguous smile.
Then came silence.
A long, drawn-out silence.
Her gaze fixed on me, and it was starting to get on my nerves.
Just as I was about to speak again, Jiang Wan chuckled softly.
“Oh, really?”
“And how do you plan to handle this?”
I froze for a moment. “Handle what?”
Jiang Wan tossed the lace panties she was holding onto the bed beside me.
Then she turned and switched on the light.
The room was suddenly bathed in brightness.
Only then did I notice that Jiang Wan’s eyes were red, and her body was tense.
She stood by the bedside, tilting her head as she looked at me.
“What do you plan to do about an assistant who has no sense of boundaries and changes her clothes in her boss’s car?”
