Chapter 20
Fan Hui blocked the pursuers for me.
Thus, I managed to escape the palace smoothly.
I wasn’t too worried, after all, Fan Hui’s ancestors had a royal pardon.
I hid in Jing City for a day, not daring to show my face.
During that time, I encountered a few hunters.
They pointed at the fox in my arms: “Hey, that’s a nice pelt. Are you selling it?”
I thought if Hu Qing could hear them, he might just spring back to life on the spot.
After a few more days, the patrols in Jing City gradually loosened.
I left the city at night and headed south.
There lies Cloud Mist Mountain.
Hu Qing once said he built a palace there.
I must go and see it.
Since the day they were injured, Bai Caiyi and Hu Qing have been asleep.
Their lives were spared, but there was no sign of them waking up.
I found a bamboo basket, carried Hu Qing on my back, and held Bai Caiyi in my arms, embarking on the long journey.
Tsk, the road was truly dull, so I talked to the two of them.
Unfortunately, neither responded.
After walking and stopping for about half a year, I finally reached the foot of Cloud Mist Mountain.
Perhaps the mountain recognized Hu Qing, as the wind through the forest guided me all the way to the peak.
There stood a palace.
A few foxes suddenly appeared from nowhere, perched on stone pillars, curiously watching me.
Though I had never been here before, it felt strangely familiar.
