Chapter 19
Before I could explain, Qingshan snorted coldly, “Consorting with demons, you’re nothing good!”
How stubborn he is.
I watched as he leaped and struck a palm towards me. Bai Caiyi was unconscious in my arms; I couldn’t dodge, nor could I escape.
Qingshan drew closer, and I could only quietly muster all my inner strength to resist.
Our palms collided, and I was pushed back several steps.
Huh?
I didn’t cough up blood?
When did my feeble inner strength become so profound?
Qingshan looked at me with surprise and uncertainty, “Who exactly are you?”
Feigning calmness, I replied, “You dare to ask my name…”
Before I could finish, my vision went black, and then I felt myself spinning, landing in something soft.
Hu Qing’s somewhat annoying voice came from below, “Alright, stop pretending.”
I looked at the fiery red fox, and finally, my anxious heart could settle back into my chest.
“You came!”
The emperor was so frightened he nearly fainted, “A big fox… fox! Guards, protect me! Quickly, protect me!”
Qingshan’s expression turned cold, “I knew there was a demonic aura here, turns out there’s a hidden fox demon.”
Hu Qing slapped him, “Hide your uncle!”
Qingshan instinctively raised his hand to block.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Hu Qing swiftly withdrew his move, carrying Bai Caiyi and me, and leaped onto the palace wall, deftly running towards the outside.
Qingshan snapped back to reality, grabbing a strong bow from a guard and drawing it with inner strength.
I turned to look, my heart sinking.
“He’s going to shoot!”
Logically, with Hu Qing’s agile movements, I shouldn’t worry.
Yet, my right eyelid kept twitching at this moment.
People often say, left eye brings fortune, right eye brings disaster.
This omen is ominous!
Ahead was a high wall; once we crossed it, they wouldn’t be able to catch us.
Hu Qing had already leaped up, just a little more!
At the same time, Qingshan’s arrow left the bow, flying rapidly towards us with terrifying inner strength.
He could have dodged the arrow…
But doing so would expose me on his back to their attacks.
The arrowhead embedded into his waist and abdomen.
His beautiful fur was stained with blood, and with his last strength, Hu Qing crossed the high wall.
Then he fell to the ground.
“Hu Qing!!” I scrambled up from the ground, running towards him in a panic. His form shrank smaller and smaller, until he was about the size of a regular fox.
My hands trembled, and as I held him, my whole body felt cold.
Thus, with a half-dead rabbit in one hand and a bloody fox in the other, I stumbled towards the palace gate.
It looked somewhat comical.
Actually, I wasn’t moving slowly, but still couldn’t match the advanced skills of Qingshan.
In just a moment, he had brought people to catch up.
I didn’t have time to look back, only hearing the clash of swords behind me.
“Fan Hui! How dare you block us!”
The emperor’s angry roar snapped me back to reality.
I glanced back, only to see Fan Hui standing between me and them, clad in silver armor.
Seeing me turn back, he smiled at me.
“Jiang Ran, why are you so disheveled?”
I cursed, “If you’re here to laugh at me, then get lost!”
He waved his hand, “You go on, I’ll hold them here. The world is vast, don’t let me run into you again.”
I locked eyes with him from afar for a few seconds, then turned and ran without hesitation.
At the end, I heard his low curse:
“Damn it, truly heartless.”
