Chapter 15
After finally coaxing the crybaby to sleep, I quietly closed the door and turned around, only to be pinned against it by Hu Qing.
Me: “???”
His expression wasn’t pleasant, and the slight upward tilt of his eyes now seemed rather cold.
“Why is there demonic energy in your body?”
I paused for a moment: “Ah, this is quite embarrassing to talk about.”
The story goes back eight years.
Back then, I was young and impetuous, following my master around to exorcise demons.
I happened upon a snake spirit when my master was away, so I went at it on my own.
And then… I lost.
I was beaten half to death by the snake spirit.
If my master hadn’t returned in time, I would have ended up in the snake’s belly.
Though my life was saved, my vital energy was scattered.
I only had a few days left to live.
That night, I spoke with my master for half the night.
The old man said nothing, lost in his thoughts.
He somehow learned a forbidden technique and that very night, he extracted the snake spirit’s inner elixir and placed it into my body.
I smiled at Hu Qing, pointing to my core: “It’s not very obedient, always fighting with me. Over the years, my body has slowly worn out.
“So now, I can’t even suppress the demonic energy from the inner elixir, though my nose is still sharp.”
Hu Qing said nothing, his head lowered, hiding his expression.
The atmosphere was somewhat sorrowful.
Tsk, I don’t quite like it.
I glanced at him and teased: “What about you? You could have stayed hidden, but now Yu Jiaojiao will truly think you killed her.”
Hu Qing looked up at me: “But if I hadn’t shown myself, you would have been captured as a demon.”
Moonlight spilled over him, his eyes shining brightly as he looked at me, leaving me a bit dazed.
I forgot what I had planned to say.
Suddenly, I realized–
This little fox seems to be serious about me.
