Chapter 7
My gaze did not withdraw.
But when Liang Chen turned his head to follow my line of sight, I deliberately grabbed his arm.
Lowering my head in deep shame, I muttered, “Don’t look.”
Liang Chen hesitated, turning his head just in time to catch a glimpse of the two people entwined together, kissing, unable to part.
I was grateful I had made the right bet.
I had purposely told Gu Yan I would be back later than usual.
It just so happened he had the day off today, and I guessed Hu Feier would come looking for him.
I just hadn’t expected the timing to be this perfect.
Even more fortunate, Liang Chen’s expression said it all.
He had absolutely no idea that Hu Feier and Gu Yan were really together.
His hand rested on the seat, fingertips tightening.
The veins on his arm stood out.
Taking advantage of the moment, I spoke with pitiful fragility, “Can I… stay in your car a little longer?”
He heard me and finally turned his head back.
His face, tense just a moment ago, softened instantly when he saw the tears brimming in my eyes.
He hurriedly pulled out a tissue, raising his hand to wipe my tears.
I dodged, still deliberately avoiding any ambiguous contact with him.
Even so, he put on a pretense and asked, “Do you know that couple?”
“No.”
“Really?”
“Mhm.”
He said nothing more, just stared at me intently.
There was a complicated emotion in his eyes.
When the two outside the car finally parted ways and left,
I got out of the car, and he called after me.
“Shenshen, I really enjoy being with you. Can I see you again later?”
I paused, composed myself, and turned back.
Tears still streaked my face, but I managed to give him a radiant smile.
“I had a great time today, too.”
I didn’t answer the second half of his question directly.
After all, since ancient times, every man has fallen for the game of playing hard to get.
