Chapter 3

I spent an entire night processing everything I had seen and heard.

Lying back on the bed, tears streamed uncontrollably down my face.

But I didn’t dare make a sound.

My hands clutched the blanket tightly, soaking the pillow with tears.

My teeth bit into my lips so hard they bled, the metallic taste mixing with my tears as I swallowed it all down.

At three in the morning, a message came through on my phone.

“Hi, this is Liang Chen, the one who gave you a ride home today. I think I left my watch in your car. Are you free tomorrow? I can come by to pick it up.”

I stared at the words on the screen.

My mind wandered back to everything that had happened at the hospital earlier that day.

Gu Yan was still out of town on a business trip, so I had gone to the hospital alone to get my ovulation-stimulating injection.

After leaving the hospital, I felt a bit hypoglycemic.

I almost passed out.

It was this man, Liang Chen, who suddenly appeared and caught me.

He even went out of his way to buy me some pear water.

He was tall, with a sunny disposition.

The muscles on his exposed arms clearly showed signs of regular workouts.

But what I didn’t expect was that he turned out to be Hu Feier’s boyfriend.

Taking a deep breath, I wiped the tears from my face.

I didn’t have the luxury of wallowing in sadness.

When the hurricane of fate descends, you have no choice but to face it.

So, if they wanted to draw me into their game, fine.

I’d let them have their way.

I typed a line of text into the phone screen:

“Sure, let’s meet at Guanlan Park tomorrow.”

I didn’t even need to check.

Because that watch was definitely in my car.
