Chapter 168: Zhou Xinyue Is Arrested
No one had expected Xie Yunshu to get into the vehicle with them. And no one had expected her to fight two grown men for a child all the way until now. If they had, the two men would have taken Xiaowei and driven off long ago!
Zhou Xinyue hadn’t expected it either. This had already gone far beyond her plan.
Several cars were driving over from the main road to the east. At last, the two men reluctantly let go. “We’re leaving first!”

I won’t ever see Brother Zhixing again! If you don’t like Xiaowei, I can take him away and raise him myself. Please don’t sell him. He’s my only child…”
Xie Yunshu’s eyes were red. She slapped Zhou Xinyue hard again. “All because of one stupid man, you even went after a child. You deserve to die!”
“Xinyue!”
With a cry of alarm, Lu Zhixing came running from who knew where. He only saw Xie Yunshu striking Zhou Xinyue, who was tied up with rope, and his heart lurched in shock. He didn’t even notice that Xie Yunshu was covered in injuries. He shoved her away and shielded Zhou Xinyue behind him.

The two men had no room to fight back at all. After a few muffled groans, they were both lying there, unable even to crawl up.
Xie Yunshu stared blankly at Captain Shen, who had appeared out of nowhere. It seemed this was the first time she had ever seen Captain Shen lose control of his emotions like this. Fierce and ruthless, he could make a person shiver with just one look.
Shen Subai glanced at her, his lips pressed into a thin line. Then he strode up to Zhou Xinyue, grabbed her by the throat with one hand, and lifted her up. His grip tightened. “What did you do to her?”
Zhou Xinyue was terrified. Her face flushed bright red as he choked her until she could barely breathe, but both her hands were tied with rope, leaving her no chance to struggle. “It wasn’t me. I didn’t. Cough, cough… Brother Zhixing, save me…”
Lu Zhixing abruptly came back to his senses. He had no time to think before he reached to pry Shen Subai’s hand away. “You’ve misunderstood. Xinyue is a victim too. It was Yunshu who…”
The rest of his words caught in his throat.
No matter how he looked at the scene before him, it was nothing like what Zhou Xinyue had claimed-that Yunshu wanted to sell the child. Only now did his mind seem to clear a little. Yunshu had no reason to do something like that. If she didn’t want to raise Xiaowei, all it would have taken was one word.
Shen Subai flung Zhou Xinyue hard to the ground, flexed his wrist, then turned and punched Lu Zhixing in the face.

Xie Yunshu let out a long breath. Then she caught sight of Xiaowei to the side and the syringe on the ground. All at once, she shoved Lin Cuiping away, grabbed the needle, and lunged at Zhou Xinyue.
“You son of a bitch, you even hurt a child! Stab him, huh? I’ll let you stab! I’ll stab you to death first, you animal!”
Zhou Xinyue was already lying on the ground, the ropes on her body not even untied. She had nowhere to dodge. Xie Yunshu stabbed her over and over until she was a mess. The wounds weren’t large, but they hurt terribly.
“Brother Zhixing! Brother Zhixing, save me!” Zhou Xinyue’s face crumpled from the pain. This time, she was truly crying. She felt like every part of her body was about to hurt to death, and all she could do was keep screaming at Lu Zhixing. “It wasn’t me! Xie Yunshu was the one who wanted to sell Xiaowei! Save me!”

Xie Yunshu was so furious she was still struggling. “A person like that should go to prison! She should be sentenced to death!”
“All right. I know.” Shen Subai held the woman in his arms a little tighter, his voice taut. “Be good. Come to the hospital with me first.”
She probably had no idea how wretched she looked right now. She was covered in injuries from head to toe, her clothes stained with blood. Though she was still full of life, hitting people and cursing them out, he could feel, with terrible clarity, his own heart contracting into a painful knot because of her.

“Captain Zhang, please take the human traffickers and this woman back to the station for questioning.” Holding Xie Yunshu, who had finally run out of strength and quieted down, Shen Subai nodded to the police officers, then walked toward the car parked by the roadside.
Ji Siyuan arrived a step too late. By the time he got out of the car, all he saw was Shen Subai carrying Xie Yunshu toward him. He had just been about to snatch her away when Shen Subai evaded him.
“Take the child behind us to the hospital.”
The child? What child?
Shen Subai got to carry Xie Yunshu away, while he had to carry a child? On what grounds?
