Chapter 2
When Jin Beiyan found me,
I was squatting barefoot under the eaves of a convenience store, lost in thought.
I had left in such a hurry that I didn’t even bring my phone, so there was no way to call a cab.
The rain was getting heavier, and I could only wait for it to stop before leaving.
A shadow fell in front of me. Jin Beiyan moved the umbrella a few inches over my head.
He spoke concisely, his words carrying a faint threat.
“Are you sure you’re not going home?”
I wiped away my tears, and once again, I couldn’t help but want to cry.
“I don’t want to go back with you.”
Jin Beiyan didn’t say anything more. He handed the umbrella to the bodyguard, then skillfully picked me up and put me into the back seat of the car.
“I said, I’m not going with you!”
I started to struggle, my voice betraying my tears.
Jin Beiyan firmly pressed me onto his lap and slipped cotton slippers onto my feet with one hand.
“Jin Beiyan, you don’t even like me, so why do you care what I do!”
“Nan Yu, I’m seven years older than you.”
“But I’m not a kid anymore! I’m already eighteen!”
“Maybe you’re just dependent on me. You can’t tell what you really feel.”
“I’m very clear. I just like you.”
“Nan Yu, be good.”
He said this much, but still refused to respond directly.
My tears fell, soaking into his collar and spreading into a dark stain.
I sobbed and closed my eyes, refusing to look at him.
“Fine, I’ll go find someone my own age to date!”
Jin Beiyan’s arm tightened around my waist, but he didn’t say a word.
My heart sank inch by inch, completely shattered.
It seemed his care for me was really just because Grandpa Jin asked him to. I was the one being foolishly sentimental.
