Summary
Players, welcome to my Infinite Loop.
I am an NPC in an apocalypse dungeon.
My entire reason for existing is to stand on a street corner and say the same line to every passing Player: “Don’t go to the East District. The Infected Matriarch is there.”
Some people ignore me. Some leave as soon as they hear it.
But more people choose to blow my head off first.
Killing an NPC increases your hidden Malice points, which can unlock the Dark Route.
I died.
Then I reset, respawned, forgot everything, and continued to stand on that street corner, waiting for the next Player.
I have endured this cycle 1,048,575 times.
On the 1,048,576th time, that Player named Godslayer showed up again.
He had killed me forty-seven times before.
But this time, before pulling the trigger, he said something different: “This NPC’s eyes… why does it look like she’s staring at a dead person?”
A gunshot rang out.
My vision went black.
Then, I saw that line of red code:
[Error: NPC#0792 memory wipe failed.]
I opened my eyes and found that I wasn’t standing on the street corner. Instead, I was lying in a space of pure white.
My backend code floated before my eyes.
I reached out and changed the first parameter:
is_killable = false
Welcome to my game, Players.
This time, it’s your turn to die.
