Plants vs. Zombies

I had been farming in the countryside for fifteen years when I suddenly had a dream.

In that dream, I was the long-lost eldest daughter of the prestigious Ye Family in the capital, and they were about to take me back.

I was a farmer’s daughter raised in the fields, while my younger sister was an innocent, carefree heiress. She had parents who spoiled her in every possible way, and a gentle, attentive childhood sweetheart. I, on the other hand, had nothing but a patch of land.

I envied her, hated her, ignored her, even set her up and treated her as an enemy. Before long, I left home.

Soon after, the world ended, and zombies overran the earth.

The “male lead,” who was in love with my sister, awakened a superpower and became a powerful warlord. He seized her by force. Our softhearted, kind parents were imprisoned at home as leverage against her, and her gentle, considerate childhood sweetheart died trying to save her.

Day after day, my sister fell in love with the male lead and became the only favored white moonlight in his harem.

Me: “…”

When I woke up, the people who had come to pick me up were already there.

I gave them one look, then headed back to the Ye Family with my seeds and hoe on my back. Under the contempt and revulsion of everyone around us, I brought along my sister and parents-who were cautiously trying to please me-and went right on farming.

A month later, the apocalypse erupted.

The peas I planted automatically spat seeds with the firepower of a Gatling gun. The watermelons lashed their two vines around and smashed zombies to pieces. The lotus wielded its Lotus Seed Pod like a heavy fist and beat the male lead who came looking for my sister until his face was black and blue.

The crowd of onlookers: “…?”

My sister wrapped herself around my arm and cheered, “Big Sis is amazing!”

Me: “You’ve never played Plants vs. Zombies?”
