No Room for You in My Future - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
The day I found out I was pregnant, I went to the private club Lu Ze always frequented.
I was just about to push the door open.
That was when I heard them inside, debating which brand of condom felt the most comfortable.
Someone teased, “Ask Brother Lu! He’s got a girlfriend, so he’s gotta be the most experienced one here.”
A moment later, I heard Lu Ze answer, careless and offhand: “Condom? Never used one.”
The people around him froze. “Not even once? Aren’t you afraid Xia Mo will get pregnant?”
Lu Ze lit a cigarette, his voice wrapped in smoke. “It’s fine. Every time we’re done, she remembers to take the pill herself.”
The room erupted. “Oh no—you’ve actually landed yourself a tame one.”
Lu Ze gave a lazy laugh. “Tame? Hardly. I’ve had my way with every part of her, top to bottom—I know exactly how many moles she has on her body.”
Someone couldn’t help but ask, “Brother Lu, what would you do if Xia Mo actually got pregnant from fooling around with you?”
Lu Ze paused, then spoke slowly:
“If she really got pregnant, then we’d get married, I guess.
“Momo’s sensible. We get along well enough. If it came to marrying her, it wouldn’t be that hard to swallow.”
Someone ribbed him. “If I remember right, your girlfriends used to change every single week. You’re such a player—would you really settle down with one person?”
Lu Ze curled his lips with utter indifference. “Well, she’s not pregnant yet, is she?
“I don’t want to think that far ahead.
“If I ever get tired of her, I’ll just find some decent excuse to break up, and she’ll do as she’s told.
“Besides, she’s got a people-pleasing personality. Every time we split, she never blames me—she’s the one who starts wondering if it’s her fault, then throws her arms around me and apologizes.
“Last time I got the sudden urge to try it in the car, and she said no. I just scared her a little—told her we’d break up if she didn’t—and she gave in.”
The crowd clicked their tongues. “Damn, she’s that easy to fool?”
Lu Ze lowered his eyes, his voice softening a touch. “That’s exactly why I don’t want anyone else fooling her.
“Lucky for her she ran into me. If it’d been some bad guy, with how much of a crybaby she is, she’d have cried her throat raw.
“Keeping her by my side is the only way I can watch over her. Then I know she’s safe.”
Someone laughed. “So in the end, Brother Lu, you’re running a charity here.
“But you’d better keep a tight leash on her. With a face like Xia Mo’s, who wouldn’t want a taste?”
“She’s not just pretty-faced—her body’s got curves in all the right places, that butt of hers like a ripe honey peach, practically bursting.”
“If she were my girlfriend, I’d be over the moon.”
Lu Ze shot him a cold glance. “You? Don’t even think about it.”
Before long, as if something had just occurred to him, his gaze softened a little.
“Still, she really is innocent. No matter how many times we do it, she cries like it’s her first time.
“Honestly, if I had to be parted from her, I’d be pretty reluctant.”
The people in the private room teased him—this playboy, turning into some lovesick fool.
It was then that someone threw out a question: “Honestly, Brother Lu, if Xia Mo really did get pregnant, would you really settle down for her?”
“Come to think of it, didn’t you only get with her to make your white moonlight, Jiang Xueman, jealous?”
“Jiang Xueman just broke up with someone, you know. And she works at your company now—isn’t this your chance?”
This time, Lu Ze stared at the floor, lost in thought.
The tip of his cigarette glowed red, then dimmed.
For a long while, he said nothing.
