Chapter 3
After a dozen minutes, the bathroom door opened.
Jiang Ling emerged in a set of pajamas, his damp hair still dripping water.
The moment his gaze met mine, Jiang Ling visibly paused.
“Did you go through my phone?”
I was about to speak but couldn’t resist the tickle in my throat, covering my lips as I coughed softly.
Jiang Ling watched me for a moment before hesitantly asking, “Are you catching a cold?”
I nodded lightly.
Autumn had arrived, and since childhood, my resistance has been relatively weak. A slight carelessness would lead to a severe cold or fever.
Having been with Jiang Ling for five years, every time the season was about to change, he would always act like he was facing a formidable enemy.
He would watch the weather forecast daily, remind me to carry an umbrella, or drag me to the gym, taking all sorts of precautions.
I would laugh at his excessive worry, and he would then wrap his arms around my waist from behind, bury his head in the nook of my shoulder, and murmur,
“I don’t want you to get sick, not even a cold.”
But these past few days, Jiang Ling and I have been caught in an inexplicable cold war, and he seems completely unaware of these changes.
