Chapter 99 - Buying a Car for Sister
The siblings left the neighborhood arm in arm and hailed a taxi at the entrance. Tang Yaoyao and her brother sat in the back seat, and she asked with a smile, “Jin, where are you taking your sister?”
“You’ll know when we get there,” Tang Huaijin replied with a smile, giving the driver an address.
“Oh, alright.” Tang Yaoyao didn’t think much of it, nodding her head and leaning gently on her brother’s shoulder.
When they arrived at their destination, Tang Huaijin held his sister’s hand and led her, with a slightly surprised look on her face, to the entrance of a BMW dealership.
As they pushed the door open, a female sales representative immediately greeted them with a smile, saying, “Welcome! How can I assist you two today?”
Tang Huaijin had already made up his mind before coming, and he nodded with a smile, saying, “Please show us the BMW 3 Series.”
The sales representative noticed that although the two were young, they carried themselves with an air of distinction. In today’s society, where online opinions are so prevalent, those who dare to look down on others are almost eliminated. So she politely smiled at the two and led them into the showroom.
Stopping in front of a white BMW 320i on display, the sales representative began to introduce the car’s features and specifications to them.
Some of the technical terms, like the engine, were beyond Tang Yaoyao’s understanding, but she looked at the car with a satisfied expression.
Tang Huaijin observed his sister’s expression and knew she liked it. He immediately smiled and asked, “So, do you like it?”
Tang Yaoyao withdrew her gaze and looked at Tang Huaijin with a slightly reproachful look, saying, “Sister knows you received your manuscript fee yesterday, but didn’t we agree to save for a house?”
The manuscript fee had been transferred yesterday. With a retail price of 80 yuan per book, after taxes, about 500,000 yuan was deposited into Tang Huaijin’s account.
So, Tang Huaijin had already decided last night to bring his sister to buy a car today. He had done his research and believed his sister would definitely like this BMW 3 Series, which wasn’t too expensive, around 300,000 yuan, making it suitable for a girl as a means of transportation.
He had considered buying the 5 Series, but compared to the more compact 3 Series, the 5 Series seemed a bit bulky and not as suitable for a girl to drive.
As for buying a house, he wasn’t too worried. Mrs. Xia’s 1.5 million was still in his pocket, though he didn’t dare to spend it.
Tang Huaijin smiled and said, “It’s okay, we can always earn more money. I’m tutoring Xia Xinya, remember? I’m planning to use that money for something, so you don’t need to worry.”
Tang Yaoyao knew her brother was reliable, and hearing him say this, she felt reassured. She really liked the car, but having been frugal for so long, she hesitated again after glancing at the price on the display next to the car.
Seeing his sister’s indecision, Tang Huaijin smiled and asked the sales representative, “Can we take it for a test drive?”
The sales representative had already noticed that the younger man was the one in charge of the money. She smiled and said, “Of course, we just need to register your…,” looking at the two’s intimate posture, they seemed more like a couple, but their facial features were so similar that she didn’t dare to make assumptions.
Tang Yaoyao instinctively tensed up, but remembering her brother had a girlfriend, she quickly relaxed, realizing this was just normal sibling affection. She tightened her grip on Tang Huaijin’s arm and smiled faintly, saying, “I’m his sister.”
The sales representative didn’t think much of it; it’s quite normal for siblings to be close. She smiled and complimented, “Your brother is really good to you, it’s enviable. Please come this way to fill out the paperwork.”
Tang Huaijin noticed the change in Tang Yaoyao’s demeanor and felt extremely happy. He nodded quickly, smiling at his sister and gesturing for her to fill out the paperwork.
Tang Yaoyao had a driver’s license and understood her brother’s nature. Seeing his expression, she knew he was determined to buy her a car. Besides feeling a bit guilty about the money, her heart was filled with sweetness. This was, after all, her first car, and she happily went to fill out her information.
After completing the paperwork, under the guidance of the sales representative, Tang Yaoyao took the car for a spin on the test drive route.
Seeing his sister’s satisfied expression, Tang Huaijin smiled and asked the staff, “Can we take the car today?”
“Yes, sir. We can provide you with a temporary license plate, and you can drive it away.”
“Alright, let’s swipe the card.” Tang Huaijin smiled, handing his bank card to the sales representative.
After completing a series of insurance and paperwork, the BMW 320i was officially registered under Tang Yaoyao’s name.
Tang Yaoyao’s face was radiant with a sweet smile as she sat in the driver’s seat, lovingly caressing the steering wheel.
Seeing his sister’s beaming smile, Tang Huaijin felt a sense of pride and satisfaction, and he gently said, “Sister, do you like it?”
“I love it. Jin is the best, sister loves Jin the most,” Tang Yaoyao said with a giggle. After a moment’s hesitation, she leaned over from the driver’s seat, her cheeks flushed, and pecked Tang Huaijin on the cheek, softly saying, “That’s your reward.”
Tang Huaijin felt a wave of warmth in his heart, gently holding his sister’s hand, and softly said, “Let’s go, sister, let’s have lunch.”
Tang Yaoyao nodded, excitedly driving away from the dealership.
The siblings had lunch outside, and Tang Yaoyao spent the afternoon shopping with her brother, using her salary to buy him some new clothes before driving back to their neighborhood.
Being a new driver, Tang Yaoyao found parallel parking a bit challenging and looked at her brother with a pleading expression.
Tang Huaijin glanced at his sister, amused, and said, “So, in your mind, your brother is all-capable?”
“Yes,” Tang Yaoyao giggled, shaking his arm and acting cute, “Jin is the best.”
Tang Huaijin rolled his eyes but got out of the car. He had learned to drive from their dad in middle school, though he didn’t have a license due to his age.
Switching seats with his sister, Tang Huaijin skillfully parked the car by the roadside, just right.
Tang Yaoyao watched nervously from the car window, carefully observing the distance between the car and the curb. Though a bit anxious, she didn’t say a word, obediently watching as Tang Huaijin parked the car.
Once the car was parked, Tang Yaoyao was about to get out but suddenly remembered something. She pouted and said, “Jin, we didn’t take any pictures today.”
Tang Huaijin realized they had forgotten and said, “Yes, we both forgot.”
Tang Yaoyao hummed a couple of times, looked around the car’s interior, her eyes lighting up. She took out her phone and said with a smile, “Let’s take some now, shall we? In the car, it has more sentimental value. This is the first car Jin bought for sister.”
Tang Yaoyao had her own album, documenting her brother’s life, like the first love letter he received, the first meal he cooked for her, the first part-time job he did to buy her a small cake, and his first dream…
Since then, Jin refused to sleep with her and started keeping a distance.
Oh, and the first time Jin brought his girlfriend home…
However, Tang Yaoyao couldn’t find the photo of Lin Ruoxi and Tang Huaijin together anymore, nor could she remember when she lost it.
Tang Huaijin chuckled and said warmly, “Sure.”
Tang Yaoyao, with a joyful smile, wrapped her arm around her brother’s and took several photos with her phone held high. Unsatisfied, she handed the phone to her brother, saying, “Jin, you take it. Sister can’t find the right angle.”
Obediently, Tang Huaijin took the phone, found an angle, and moved closer to his sister before pressing the shutter.
Tang Yaoyao looked at the photos, nodded in satisfaction, but then handed the phone back to her brother, acting cute, “Take a few more.”
As her brother held the phone up, Tang Yaoyao pursed her lips, her cheeks gradually reddening. She leaned closer to Tang Huaijin and gently kissed his cheek.
Click.
Time froze, capturing the moment in the phone.
Tang Huaijin looked at his sister, who leaned over to see the photo, his expression extremely gentle. He lowered his head slightly, lifting Tang Yaoyao’s round chin, and slowly approached her lips, lightly tinted with red lipstick.
Though they were in the car, being outside made Tang Yaoyao a bit nervous. Her delicate eyelashes trembled slightly as she closed her eyes, watching Tang Huaijin get closer.
Their lips met, and with the soft, warm touch, a wave of intense sweetness spread through their hearts.
It was as if countless threads of affection wove a net, tightly binding their restless hearts together.
