Summary
Li Che transmigrates into the Great Qing dynasty and becomes the emperor’s least favored son.
The Crown Prince frames him, the emperor looks on coldly, and an imperial prince is driven to kill himself in public by smashing his head against a pillar!
After this disastrous start, Li Che is granted a fief in the Northeast beyond the pass, yet he remains utterly untroubled.
What others see as a bitterly cold, barren wasteland is actually rich in mineral resources, with the finest black soil and horse pastures in the entire country.
The Northeast is too cold?
Nothing will grow there?
One season’s harvest from my land is enough to feed all of Great Qing for three years!
The Northeast is too remote?
Too hard to develop?
Coal, ironworks, cement roads, gunpowder factories… my state of Feng is centuries ahead of you in technology!
The Northeast is too dangerous?
Impossible to defend?
My Feng Army marches beyond the pass and sweeps aside the barbarian peoples, destroying the kingdoms of the Northern Barbarians, Goryeo, and others, and wiping out their peoples!
“What, you want me to go back and inherit the throne?
No, no.”
Standing on a glacier and stroking the docile polar bear at his feet, Li Che declares:
“My Feng Army has already fought its way right through the Arctic Circle, so why would I want to be emperor?”
