Chapter 4
As I stepped out of the room, I realized it was a two-story villa.
Downstairs, Tommy was quietly leaning against the floor-to-ceiling window, playing with a puzzle.
Sunlight spilled across the floor, and his long eyelashes drooped, making him look like such a good boy that it instantly hit my soft spot.
I dashed over in a flash, startling him.
“My boy, what are you playing? Mommy will join you.”
Tommy widened his eyes and immediately stood up as if he were being punished, whispering, “Mommy.”
I pulled him over and planted a kiss on his fair little cheek.
He touched his face, looking somewhat surprised.
Watching his series of reactions, I could roughly guess that the me from ten years later might not be very fond of this child.
Fortunately, Tommy was young and didn’t hold grudges.
I played with him for a while, and he happily began sharing his puzzle with me.
“My boy! Is the puzzle the only thing you can play with?”
Kids his age should have lots of toys.
Tommy cautiously glanced at me and said, “Mommy used to think other toys were too noisy and would get angry.”
???
Great, the me from ten years later is really sick.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
Genevieve had arrived.
