Chapter 19
On the day of the class reunion, I originally planned to go with Jonathan and return quickly.
But as luck would have it, the babysitter took a day off, so I had to bring Tommy along.
Thinking back to the affair between Gavin and me, many people must have heard about it.
Afraid they might speak without restraint, I asked Jonathan to stay in the car with Tommy.
Sure enough, as soon as I showed up, several classmates gathered around me to chat.
Some offered comfort, others mocked.
I looked at the familiar faces.
Not long ago, they were full of youthful vigor, but now they were steeped in worldly concerns.
Thanks to their big mouths, I learned some news about Gavin.
Apparently, my college roommate managed to lure him away by inheriting several properties from her family’s relocation.
And now he has started his own company, which I hear is doing quite well.
Before long, Gavin and his wife arrived.
Looking at him now, I felt only two words: relief.
Just look at that receding hairline, protruding belly, and face swollen like a steamed bun.
There’s not a trace left of the campus heartthrob he once was.
And yet, he still had the audacity to tag me?
“Anna, five years and you’re still as beautiful.”
Gavin feigned sincerity as he approached to talk to me.
I gave a fake smile and said nothing, turning to hide in the restroom to call Jonathan to come and get me.
Any interest in showing off or putting on airs was completely gone.
On the other end of the line, Jonathan chuckled softly and said he’d be right there.
