My Ex-Boyfriend Fell for My Sister - Chapter 10
Under the gentle moonlight, he slowly approached, “Your younger sister said you weren’t home.”
“So you went to his place.” Jake’s voice was low and steady, his gaze finally resting on my lips, “Took you this long to come back… did you sleep together?”
Why was he downstairs at my place at two or three in the morning?
I felt a bit confused and instinctively looked up at the house; the lights were off, my younger sister should be asleep.
“Don’t bother looking,” he said, “She’s been asleep for a while.”
I sensed a hint of danger in Jake tonight and tried to bypass him to leave, but he grabbed my hand.
“Emily, you haven’t answered me.”
I lowered my head, took a deep breath, “Does it have anything to do with you?”
Jake tightened his grip on my hand, his gaze lingering on my face for a long time before he suddenly smiled, “Then who does it have to do with? Your younger sister?”
I looked at him without saying a word.
He was silent for a few seconds, then raised his hand to touch my hair, “Are you angry?”
I was about to speak when my phone suddenly rang.
The caller ID showed it was Alex.
Jake clearly noticed too, his jaw slightly tensed.
I took the opportunity to break free from him and quickly headed home.
There was no signal in the elevator, and by the time I got out, Alex’s call had already ended.
I clutched my phone, opened the door, and changed my shoes, planning to return the call once I was in my room, but then I noticed a figure curled up on the sofa.
It was my younger sister.
She sat hugging her knees in the dim light and didn’t look up even when she heard me come in.
“Jake was waiting for you, wasn’t he?” she said softly, “He called at ten asking if you were back, I said you weren’t. Then he came downstairs and waited until now.”
I stopped in the middle of the living room.
“Did he ever say that he was with me just because I’m your younger sister?” Her voice trembled, “Do you still like him? If he wants to get back with you, would you agree?”
I put down my keys and walked into the room, returning shortly with a blanket to cover her.
My younger sister clutched my hand tightly and asked again, “Would you agree?”
“I’m good to you because you’re my younger sister. Your issues have nothing to do with me, don’t bother me with them. Jake did make the first move, but you’re also an accomplice. I can accept your relationship, but it doesn’t mean I have to help you maintain it.”
“Sophie, I’m your sister, I’m not that kind of person.”
Tears welled up in my younger sister’s eyes, and she murmured an apology.
