Chapter 10
Li Xingzhi stumbled as she left Jinghe Palace.
After she left, Qi E finally let go of me. “You’re quite clever. Who knows how long she’ll have to wash after going back this time.”
But I didn’t feel happy just because he praised me.
“Qi E, why do you have two consorts?” I stepped back a few paces, put my hands on my hips, and asked him.
He probably hadn’t expected me to ask so suddenly and was stunned for a moment.
Doudou was behind me, gently tugging at my clothes, trying to remind me to watch my words.
I had completely forgotten all the teachings from father and the governesses, only feeling that I’d been deceived.
“Then how many consorts does Lan think I should have?” Qi E’s voice was calm and light, with a hint of laughter, very pleasant to hear.
I liked him very much.
I liked the way he looked, liked his voice, and also liked the faint agarwood fragrance on him.
That’s why I was willing to be his Consort Chun.
Thinking of this made me even angrier.
“Of course just one.” I lifted my head and glared at him. “Father only has mother as his wife. Why can you have two?”
He chuckled again at my words, but seeing the anger on my face, he quickly restrained his smile.
“I’m not the same as your father,” he explained.
I didn’t understand. “Why not the same?”
He came over, wrapped his arm around my waist, and sat down on the couch with me. “I’m the emperor. The emperor is different from everyone else.”
I was even more confused, and sitting in his arms, I forgot to be angry. “Isn’t the emperor just the biggest person in the world, doing whatever he wants?”
He sighed.
“Qi E, are you unhappy?” I smelled the bitterness on him growing stronger.
From yesterday to today, I’d thought about it for a long time.
It seemed the bitterness on Qi E had nothing to do with eating sweets or not.
As long as he smiled, the bitterness would fade a little.
So maybe he was so bitter because he was unhappy.
He didn’t answer my question, just picked up a lock of my hair and twined it around his finger, asking me, “Li Xingzhi said I used your father. Aren’t you angry?”
I shook my head.
“I said that day, I’m willing to let father be your father too. Father will love you just like he loves me. If it’s something good for you, father would definitely be willing to do it. That’s not using him.” I turned and lay on his shoulder, sniffing his scent, and said softly, “Besides, you’re a good person. You won’t kill me or my father.”
“You’re the first person to call me a good person.” Qi E played with the strand of hair in his hand, his voice a little low.
“That’s because they…” can’t smell your scent.
I patted his back. “Then I’ll tell you every day from now on.”
“Alright.” The bitterness faded a little more.
Satisfied, I let go of him and asked again, “Can’t the emperor really have only one consort?”
He laughed helplessly. “Not for now.”
I angrily jumped off him and drove him out.
