My Contract Husband Won't Behave - Chapter 47
That violent pounding did not sound like hotel staff.
Nie Jingzhi thought for a moment, then curled her red lips in mockery. “Could it be that husband of mine who might as well be dead?”
Though she scoffed, expectation stirred inside her.
“I’ll look.” Su Chen very much hoped Bo Jiusi had not come.
He opened the door.
“Don’t move! Police!”
Several uniformed men stood outside, the leader displaying identification. “We received a report of prostitution in this room.”
Su Chen froze. “What did you say?”
The officer’s voice hardened. “Identification.”
Completely bewildered, Su Chen looked back at Nie Jingzhi.
She approached. “Who reported us?”
The officer glanced down the corridor.
Understanding, Nie Jingzhi leaned out.
Under the corridor lights, Bo Jiusi stood against the opposite wall with a phone in hand, expressionless. Feng Wu waited behind him with lowered head.
Nie Jingzhi nearly laughed from fury. “Master Jiu, are you so idle that you came here solely to make trouble for me?”
Bo Jiusi raised his eyes, their depths revealing nothing.
The officer coughed. “Mind your words. That is someone you can’t afford to offend.”
“He’s my husband.”
“Your husband?” The officer stared between them. Bo Jiusi did not deny it.
Everyone grew confused. The leader pointed at Su Chen. “Then he is your…?”
“Lover.”
Awkwardness covered every face. They had stumbled into a sensational marital scandal involving the capital’s famous Master Jiu.
“Weren’t you going to arrest us? Hurry. I don’t want to see him.”
Nie Jingzhi thrust both hands forward, her delicate wrists dazzlingly pale, and blinked her watery eyes at the officer.
Bo Jiusi stepped forward and caught her wrist.
“Everyone leave.”
Feng Wu immediately approached the police. “Apologies. This may be a misunderstanding. Thank you for coming. Please let Master Jiu and his wife resolve it privately.”
The officers were exceedingly polite. “Of course. Master Jiu, call us if you ever encounter trouble.”
Su Chen finally understood. He looked between the couple, opened his mouth, then thought better of it.
Nie Jingzhi smiled at him. “Go home.”
He hesitated. “Will you be all right?”
“I’ll be fine.”
After Su Chen and the police left with Feng Wu, only Nie Jingzhi and Bo Jiusi remained.
“Let go.” She tried to pull free.
Bo Jiusi tightened his grip and yanked her against him. “You dared get a room with another man?”
She collided with his chest under the icy accusation.
“Why wouldn’t I? You can ignore my messages and smile at an actress, yet you have the nerve to control me?”
Bo Jiusi stared without explaining, waiting to see what else would come from her mouth.
“Besides, Master Jiu looked perfectly unconcerned when I left with Su Chen.”
His face shifted before he sneered. “You’re carrying my child and came to a hotel with another man. Do you have any awareness of being a mother?”
“Understood.” Nie Jingzhi nodded. “You care only about the child, not me.”
“You don’t like me. Why shouldn’t we each do as we please?”
His Adam’s apple moved, but she cut him off.
“You said some marriages aren’t about love or growing old together. We’re partners who help each other when needed. The rest of the time, neither of us should restrict the other’s freedom.”
“I did say that. But once we enter a marriage, we owe it fidelity.”
Not fickleness and adultery.
“Fidelity?”
Nie Jingzhi snorted and tore free.
“Did I object when you attended Su Wanyin’s birthday?”
Bo Jiusi frowned. “She’s Shen Xing’s sister—”
“Don’t you know she likes you?”
“If you know, why don’t you keep your distance?”
“Why give her a chance to become the face of your jewelry brand?”
“You caught her and handed her a towel. So attentive. No wonder she can’t let you go.”
“Master Jiu keeps talking about marital fidelity. Are you allowed to flirt with women while I’m not even allowed to have a single male friend?”
She stared directly up at him through every word.
Bo Jiusi’s throat locked. He could not answer.
Nie Jingzhi sneered and walked away.
Her heels made little sound against the carpet, yet every step struck his heart.
A handsome suited man approached from the far end.
Nie Jingzhi stopped and smiled sweetly at him. “Handsome, are you free later?”
He blinked.
“I have a room and no one to keep me company. Would you like to come in?”
With her lush beauty appearing before him at night, she was irresistible.
“Y-Yes,” he answered eagerly.
Violence exploded from Bo Jiusi.
He strode over, seized Nie Jingzhi’s wrist so hard that her bones ached, and dragged her back into the suite.
The door slammed.
The room was spotless. The bedspread lay perfectly smooth without a single wrinkle.
One glance eased some of the rage in Bo Jiusi’s chest.
He shoved her onto the bed, pinned both wrists above her head with one hand, and braced the other beside her ear. His body covered hers, trapping her in shadow.
Nie Jingzhi struggled. “Bo Jiusi, let me go!”
“Are you that desperate for a man?”
His voice was ice, but fire burned in his eyes. “You’ll sleep with anyone you grab and flirt with every man you see. Since you want it so badly, I’ll satisfy you.”
“Are you insane?” Nie Jingzhi kicked wildly, trying to escape, but his legs pinned hers.
Bo Jiusi bent and kissed her.
Her eyes reddened with anger. She raised a hand to slap him, but he caught it and forced it back onto the bed.
“You bastard!” she screamed, voice breaking. “You don’t like me. What right do you have to do this? Go find Su Wanyin! She smiled so happily at you, and you gave her a towel. Go to her!”
Before she finished, he suddenly gathered her into his arms.
“What… what are you doing?”
“You provoked and tested me again and again because you wanted this moment.” Bo Jiusi gripped her chin. “I’m giving it to you.”
But she did not want it now. She did not want to be touched by a man who did not like her.
“I’m still pregnant!”
She bit her lip, eyes scarlet. “You can’t…”
