Summary
After the basketball game, the childhood friend I had a crush on held out a bottle of ice-cold water.
I reached for it. He passed right over me and put it in the hand of the roommate who was always picking fights with me.
The guy tipped up his chin with an obnoxious grin. “Smart move.”
Shen Du clicked his tongue. “Now lay off him, will you?”
Only after opening the second bottle did he offer it to me.
I thought I’d gotten used to coming second.
But staring at the water in my hand, I suddenly didn’t want to like him anymore.
