Chapter 7
“Did you have a fight with Senior Zhou? Jiangjiang, don’t be mad. He didn’t mean it.”
“A while ago, a company proposal was leaked, causing them to lose an order. He’s been in a bad mood and that’s why he snapped at you.”
In the canteen, Lin Xingyue sat across from me.
My gaze shifted downwards, landing on the pink diamond ring adorning her slender, fair fingers.
My throat felt as if something was lodged in it.
I swallowed with difficulty and spoke softly, “…He didn’t tell me.”
Lin Xingyue curved her eyes into a smile, “You’ve been so busy, he probably didn’t want to disturb you.”
But why do you know?
As our eyes met, Lin Xingyue seemed to guess what I was about to ask and laughed.
“Jiangjiang, did you forget that I work at his company? Of course, I know what he knows.”
She laughed while glancing down at her phone screen that had just lit up.
“Looks like you’re done eating too, let’s head out.”
Not far from the canteen, outside the southwest gate, a familiar black Porsche was parked.
My steps halted abruptly as I watched Zhou Xuan push open the car door, his expression indifferent as he looked in this direction.
His gaze skimmed past the brightly smiling Lin Xingyue and landed on me.
Lin Xingyue spoke cheerfully, “I’ve brought Jiangjiang out, but I have something to do, so I’ll be leaving first.”
Zhou Xuan frowned slightly, “Where are you going?”
Lin Xingyue paused, turned back to look at him, and squinted her eyes with a smile.
“The person who rejected my confession the other day suddenly said he wants to talk to me again. I’m going to find him now.”
After saying this, she walked away without looking back.
Zhou Xuan pressed his lips together, his expression inexplicably somber.
Even as I sat in the car, I could still feel the unpleasant mood emanating from his expression.
