Chapter 15
When Lin Xingyue arrived at the hospital, it was already evening.
She looked at the IV needle in my hand and remained silent for a moment before speaking, “Li Jiangjiang.”
“You’ve been together for eight years, and he never thought about proposing to you. Haven’t you realized anything?”
I sat on the hospital bed, looking up at her with a blank expression.
“Zhou Xuan hasn’t loved you for a long time. The only reason he hasn’t broken up with you is because of the habit formed over these years.”
“Just yesterday morning, I cried a little over the phone, and he couldn’t wait to come to me.”
“You saw the photos too. We spent the whole morning together-”
I laughed, “It’s not easy to speak so openly about something so disgusting.”
Her face finally fell, looking unpleasant:
“Li Jiangjiang, stop looking at me with that expression.”
“I haven’t done anything to wrong you.”
“You and he aren’t even married. Our feelings are beyond control, and there’s nothing morally wrong with that-”
“Lin Xingyue, who told you to come here?”
Zhou Xuan suddenly interrupted her.
He had returned from getting my meal, still holding my pink teddy bear lunchbox.
Lin Xingyue looked up at him, “What’s wrong? My best friend is sick and hospitalized, can’t I come to see her?”
I watched as Zhou Xuan put down the lunchbox and forcefully dragged her out.
Through the slightly ajar door of the ward, their voices clearly reached my ears.
“Zhou Xuan, are you going to turn your back on me as soon as you get out of bed?”
Zhou Xuan’s voice was low, cold, and merciless, “I’ve already told you, we’re done.”
“What happened between us was just a moment of impulse. It’s time to get back on track.”
“What do I lack compared to Li Jiangjiang? Whether it’s family background, looks, or personality, I can offer you far more than she can-”
Zhou Xuan interrupted her with disdain, “Do you think you can compare to her?”
Silence fell outside.
After a while, Lin Xingyue’s suppressed sobs could be heard.
