Chapter 1
When I left the laboratory, I saw a post in Moments about a senior sister’s engagement.
My finger paused on the screen for a moment.
I still liked the post and sent a screenshot to Zhou Xuan.
It took him a long time to reply: “That’s nice.”
I halted my steps: “Are you busy right now?”
After a while, he finally sent another message:
“Yeah.”
The indifference and coldness in his tone, even through the screen, seeped through the words.
“Then you go ahead and be busy.”
I originally wanted to half-jokingly ask him, “So when are we going to get engaged?”
But looking at those cold messages, the courage I had painstakingly gathered suddenly vanished, and I couldn’t utter a single word.
This is already the eighth year of our relationship.
I’m in my first year of PhD, and Zhou Xuan’s company has successfully secured over a billion in funding.
“Do you think he plans to propose to me anytime soon?”
I asked my best friend, “Could it be that he’s too caught up with work to realize? Should I hint at it?”
“Absolutely not!”
She shook her head repeatedly, sincerely advising me,
“No girl should bring this up first, it’s so undignified!”
“Don’t rush, you’re still studying anyway. Senior Zhou might be waiting for his career to stabilize a bit before proposing to you.”
