Chapter 10
He frowned and warned me, “All these years, I’ve really spoiled you, made you forget your own place.”
“After leaving me, who else would give someone of your status so much money?”
I covered my face and laughed, “What use do I have for money?”
“No use? Have you forgotten how you knelt and begged me before?”
I ignored him, simply placed the prepared divorce agreement on his study desk.
And moved out of the Fu Family.
Days passed one after another.
A month later, I received an invitation from the orphanage where I once lived.
They asked me to attend their charity fundraising event.
These days, at first Fu Jun thought I was just throwing a tantrum, unwilling to let me push my luck.
Later, he seemed to realize I was serious.
He started to lower himself and coax me.
“Stop making trouble, Jingjing.”
“Come back, I’ll have Ah Ning apologize to you in person.”
I never replied.
The day of the fundraising event arrived.
I walked onto the stage, and at a glance, I saw Fu Jun sitting in the audience.
He was gazing at me deeply.
The host asked, “I heard Miss Zhou grew up in this orphanage, and has donated many times since.”
“Yes, I want the children who come after to live a little better.”
This was what He Zhou had been doing ever since he graduated.
After he left, he handed it over to me.
“As far as I know, Miss Zhou had an older brother here, someone in a remarkable profession, named He Zhou?”
Hearing He Zhou’s name, I froze.
My gaze swept the room, finally settling in a shadowed corner of the hall.
The heart in my chest suddenly began to race wildly.
After a long moment, I found my voice again. “…He’s not my brother.”
“He’s not my brother.”
“He Zhou is six years older than me, but I never called him brother, because I like him.”
In the audience, Fu Jun sat in his wheelchair, his face suddenly drained of color.
All my life, the most passionate and unabashed feelings I have ever had were always reserved for He Zhou alone.
The host was stunned. “But… Miss Zhou, it seems you and Mr. Fu, who’s here today-”
“It was just a transaction. Fu Jun and I are already divorced.”
I said, “I thank Mr. Fu for all his years of compensation, which gave me enough funds to search for He Zhou.”
“No matter if he’s alive or dead, I must find him.”
“In my heart, he will always be a hero.”
As I spoke, I did not look at Fu Jun, whose eyes were red.
I only stared fixedly at that dim corner.
Watching that familiar figure step out from the shadows.
Walk into the light.
Step by step, he came to stand before me.
He had grown so thin, his cheeks slightly sunken, and the skin exposed was covered in wounds.
But those cold, sharp eyes locked onto mine, bright as stars, and in an instant, softened.
“Now, you’ve found me.”
