Chapter 60 - Zi Xie
ifferently onto the arena. Her arrival stirred immense excitement among the Barbarian Tribe’s young men, who erupted into excited roars, showcasing her popularity within the tribe.
This woman, known as “Zi Xie,” was the only female in the Barbarian Tribe who had formed a blood pattern. In just over a decade, she had reached the initial stage of the Heavenly Realm, honored as the tribe’s prodigy.
Facing Leng Yan, Zi Xie spoke indifferently, “My name is Zi Xie, pleased to meet you.”
Leng Yan was slightly surprised that she spoke the language of the Central Plains. He smiled and responded, “My name is Leng Yan, please!”
After a brief introduction, both unleashed their auras, locking onto each other firmly. As the battle commenced, a scorpion-shaped blood pattern appeared on Zi Xie’s exquisite bronze face, emitting a faint blood-colored glow.
The scorpion-shaped blood pattern was not large; its tail extended just below her earlobe, and its pincers were near the corners of her mouth, presenting a terrifyingly beautiful appearance.
“Blood Tail Sting!”
Zi Xie, resembling a real poison scorpion, swayed her hips, and a giant purple scorpion’s phantom emerged behind her. The long tail, gleaming with a cold light like lightning, struck towards Leng Yan.
“Xuan Han Ice Seal!”
The moment Zi Xie launched her attack, Leng Yan countered. A thick fog rose, and a layer of frost formed over the phantom scorpion, significantly slowing the speed of its stinger. Seizing the opportunity, Leng Yan launched three water dragon techniques in succession.
The three water dragons, each tens of meters long, surged with dark blue water flowing rapidly through their bodies. As they soared, they whipped up fierce winds, creating an impressive spectacle.
Zi Xie let out a delicate shout, and the phantom of Zi Xie suddenly enlarged, pushing the frost apart and turning it into ice blocks that fell to the ground. Immediately after, Zi Xie formed hand seals and exclaimed, “Blood Spear!”
As the seals were completed, Zi Xie looked up and let out a silent roar, suddenly radiating red light from her eyes and opening a massive bloody maw.
As the maw opened, three blood-red long spears shot out like meteors, piercing the eyes of the water dragon.
“Roar!”
The water dragon technique, struck by the blood spears, resulted in an earth-shattering explosion, sounding much like the water dragon’s mournful roar.
“Is this the true magical art of the Barbarian Tribe? Impressive!” Leng Yan, witnessing the defeat of the water dragon, could feel the formidable power of such magical techniques.
Zi Xie dispersed the water dragon technique and immediately continued her assault. The “Earth Splitting Thrust” had silently emerged from the underlands.
Furthermore, Zi Xie, to conceal her deadly moves, continuously waved her hands, launching dozens of black long spears flying towards Leng Yan.
Leng Yan hadn’t expected Zi Xie to confront him with such a seemingly harmless attack. He knew well that Zi Xie wouldn’t use such methods without reason. The most likely explanation was that this was just a distraction; the real deadly move was probably already making its way to him stealthily.
While retreating, Leng Yan formed ice walls to block the black long spears, his spiritual mind remaining highly vigilant to avoid any sudden attacks.
“Bang bang…”
The black long spears were completely blocked by the ice walls, and at that moment, Leng Yan felt a slight tremor under his feet. His mind instantly realized that Zi Xie’s real attack was coming from beneath. Without hesitation, he leapt up, simultaneously setting up concealment seals and defensive magical techniques around him.
Boom!
The wooden floor under Leng Yan suddenly burst open, and a poison scorpion’s tail thrust out, aiming directly at his body.
“Boom! Boom…”
With consecutive impacts, explosions reverberated, and Leng Yan’s body, while in mid-air, suddenly vanished.
“Such quick reflexes! But using a concealment seal in front of me, do you underestimate me too much!” Zi Xie angrily shouted, her knees slightly bent as she powerfully leapt up, charging towards Leng Yan in mid-air.
Leng Yan was not surprised at how Zi Xie had discovered his location. It was not that Zi Xie could break the concealment seal, but rather her meticulous mind had deduced Leng Yan’s position from the whispers of the wind.
Their fists collided in the Void, and Zi Xie was blasted back onto the arena by Leng Yan’s immense power, prompting Leng Yan to also remove the seal and return to the arena.
“In terms of physical strength, you are no match for me!” Leng Yan swung his arm and chuckled lightly.
“Then let’s see the truth in magical techniques!” Zi Xie’s face remained cold as she launched her attack!
A mist of blood enveloped the arena, turning it a deep red. The red poison scorpion’s phantom merged with it, obscuring Zi Xie’s position from Leng Yan.
“Ice Water Qi!”
As Leng Yan neutralized one of Zi Xie’s attacks, he also dispelled the surrounding blood mist, replacing it with a white water mist to prevent Zi Xie’s sudden assaults.
Suddenly, the white mist began to churn. Leng Yan hastily retreated as two giant pincers emerged from within the mist.
He pushed forward with both palms, meeting the attack with two massive golden palm imprints.
Boom!
The white and blood mists rolled under the explosive force, merging together.
As the mists cleared, the arena was empty, both battlers having vanished.
It turned out that both had chosen the same moment to use the concealment seal to hide and catch their breath.
Within the seal, Leng Yan manipulated the elements to disturb the air currents around him, making it difficult for Zi Xie to pinpoint his location.
Zi Xie was doing the same, with only occasional tornadoes whipping across the arena.
Finally, Zi Xie could no longer endure it. A sky filled with black long spears enveloped the arena, falling like raindrops.
Caught in Zi Xie’s onslaught, Leng Yan was forced to use a magical technique to defend himself, inadvertently revealing his position, while Zi Xie remained hidden in the shadows.
“Burn Sky!”
Leng Yan’s eyes were sharp, scanning every corner. With a single stomp, the entire arena suddenly erupted in fierce flames. Zi Xie appeared behind Leng Yan, ignoring the searing heat, and swung a black curved blade toward his neck.
Sensing a chill from behind, Leng Yan realized the danger. He leaned slightly forward and spun around just in time to narrowly evade Zi Xie’s fatal strike. However, this didn’t mean he was safe; Zi Xie’s blade shifted from a slash to a stab, leaving a deep, bone-revealing cut on Leng Yan’s arm.
The pain from the wound caused Leng Yan to grit his teeth. He suppressed the pain and drew out the Azure Sky Sword, swinging it to force Zi Xie back.
Gazing at the wound on his arm, Leng Yan channeled his essence power to stop the bleeding. Meanwhile, he noticed that although Zi Xie had managed to wound him, her back armor had been scorched off by his flames, revealing a large patch of bronze-toned skin.
“Are you willing to trade blows for a win?” Leng Yan said coldly, gripping the Azure Sky Sword tightly.
“As long as I can win, it doesn’t matter,” Zi Xie’s beautiful face was like an everlasting glacier, her voice devoid of any emotion.
“Alright, let’s see who’s tougher!”
With a flick of the Azure Sky Sword, a wave of sword qi shot out. Leng Yan then summoned his flying sword into the air, performing rapid hand seals. The Azure Sky Sword followed the sword qi, swiftly charging forward.
Zi Xie, unfazed by the attack, wielded her black curved blade, engraved with ancient patterns, and threw it into the air. The blade spun rapidly, like a crescent moon.
Clang… Clang…
The curved blade deflected the sword qi and the Azure Sky Sword in succession. At that moment, Leng Yan moved like a phantom beside Zi Xie, his fists rapidly launching hundreds of punches.
Though Zi Xie managed to block the flurry of punches, Leng Yan’s body, enhanced by the Dragon Emperor, was undoubtedly more formidable than Zi Xie’s.
With a sharp shout, Zi Xie swung the poison scorpion tail at Leng Yan, forcing him to abandon his attack and retreat.
“Why not join the Barbarian Tribe? Then you could naturally learn the blood seal technique,” Zi Xie said with a rare smile at the corner of her mouth, though it remained cold.
Leng Yan caught on and returned the smile, finally understanding what Zi Xie meant. It seemed Mo Sang had discreetly hinted at pulling Leng Yan into their circle, using the blood seal technique as a tempting offer to entice him.
If they could forge a good relationship with Leng Yan, when the gate to the immortal’s abode opened, they could all leave together.
Leng Yan silently noted Mo Sang’s cunning nature. Joining the Barbarian Tribe wasn’t impossible; it was just…
