Chapter 49 - The Realm of Battle Intent!
This was no longer just a duel! The two had entered a state of enlightenment. Yi Shuihan was understanding “sword intent,” while Leng Yan, guided by the word “battle,” was gradually grasping the essence of true “battle intent.”
Battle intent is profound in its meaning. It embodies fearlessness, courage, and the belief to defy the heavens and change fate.
In the heat of battle, Leng Yan slowly immersed himself in this belief. Every movement of his long sword carried a fearless battle intent that forced Yi Shuihan to retreat.
Yi Shuihan’s sword strikes became incredibly fierce, making Leng Yan feel as if he couldn’t escape. And this was without utilizing magical power. With it, the force would be earth-shattering!
He shifted his footwork and slashed the sword across his waist. Yi Shuihan saw clearly, stepped back half a step, and the tip of his sword grazed Leng Yan’s abdomen. This seemingly dangerous moment was all within Yi Shuihan’s expectations. Before Leng Yan could alter his move, Yi Shuihan already had his sword aimed at Leng Yan’s throat!
With a nimble roll in mid-air, he narrowly dodged the fatal strike! Leng Yan had to admit, Yi Shuihan’s sword techniques had surpassed his own!
“The Lifeless Sword Path, the Void Sword Intent! Attack!”
Yi Shuihan’s eyes gleamed even more brightly. In an instant, as if he realized something, he murmured to himself and attacked with his long sword as if it were casual.
But this strike made Leng Yan feel as if he had entered a cage, a lifeless prison, with a mountain’s weight pressing on his heart.
In such dire straits, the “battle” in his mind suddenly transformed into a man wearing a yellow robe. This man stood in his mind, as if in the Void, and seemed to casually throw a punch.
As the man punched, Leng Yan’s body was drawn, and his left hand threw a punch.
With one sword strike, the winds calmed, and the clouds halted, as if this was the only majestic sword under the heavens.
However, as Leng Yan’s punch burst forth, the Void shattered. A golden yellow fist shadow launched from Leng Yan’s fist, meeting Yi Shuihan’s long sword head-on.
“Boom! Boom!”
Thunderous roars echoed across the heavens and earth.
This had surpassed what magical techniques could achieve! It was known as the Divine Power of the realm of intent.
As the dust settled, Leng Yan and Yi Shuihan both sheathed their swords. Leng Yan looked at his left hand, his mind replaying the fleeting moment just before.
In that instant, Leng Yan felt his own strength; if that punch had been enhanced with magical power, it could have killed a cultivator at the mid-stage of the primordial qi realm.
Unfortunately, Leng Yan still couldn’t fully grasp that sensation. It was a feeling of tearing through the heavens, a sensation of supremacy.
Yi Shuihan stood unmoving, a look similar to Leng Yan’s in his eyes-a blend of confusion and enlightenment.
“Did you understand it?” Yi Shuihan asked calmly, looking up.
Leng Yan shook his head and smiled, “It’s a vague feeling, as if I almost grasped something, yet caught nothing at all.”
“Perhaps our cultivation levels are too low to truly perceive such profound intent. But since we’ve touched the threshold, one day we’ll understand it completely.”
“Very true! So, do we continue?” Leng Yan began channeling his mental cultivation technique, slowly healing his injuries.
“It’s unnecessary. I’ll seek you out again in the future. Also, thank you!” With that, Yi Shuihan turned and walked off the arena, a path opening willingly for him through the crowd.
Their battle had left those present utterly astonished! Many gained valuable insights from the duel.
Leng Yan swung his left hand, smiling faintly, deciding not to dwell on it further. Perhaps one day he could wield that power at will.
“Well? Anyone else up for a challenge?” Leng Yan shouted.
Hearing Leng Yan, the audience exchanged glances, but no one stepped forward.
Leng Yan’s cultivation techniques, magical treasures, and martial skills were of the highest caliber, as everyone had witnessed. His cultivation technique in particular seemed to suppress the magical techniques of anyone below the Heavenly Realm. Most importantly, no one wanted to provoke him. What if another wager was proposed? That would be courting disaster!
Three minutes passed with no challengers, confirming Leng Yan’s victory as champion.
“First group’s champion, Leng Yan. Now let the second group’s competition begin!”
With Elder’s announcement, Leng Yan walked off the arena and left the plaza. There was nothing more for him there. As for the rewards, Shui Yunyao would take care of them, and Leng Yan’s current priority was to eliminate Prince Bao; he could not be allowed to remain in this world!
The inner courtyard was where all the inner disciples resided, and Leng Yan headed there first, searching everywhere for signs of Prince Bao.
At that moment, everyone was in the plaza, rendering the inner courtyard eerily quiet. Leng Yan searched for a long time but found no trace of Prince Bao. Extending his mental power, he scanned every inch of the inner courtyard, but Prince Bao was nowhere to be found.
Leng Yan disregarded everything else; his main focus was to find Prince Bao. Exiting the inner courtyard, Leng Yan boldly extended his mental power from the mountain’s peak downwards, even over the plaza.
It was important to note that many of those in the plaza were experts at the Heavenly Realm and unification realm, and such audacity from Leng Yan could provoke a spiritual awareness backlash from others.
Fortunately, Leng Yan’s residual might still lingered, and even senior brothers at the unification realm were reluctant to provoke him.
Xuan Yi felt Leng Yan’s mental power and smiled, stroking his beard.
“How can this be? Why is there no trace of him? Could he have already left, knowing I wouldn’t spare him?” Leng Yan pondered, after searching Water Sect for an hour without finding any sign of Prince Bao.
After some thought, Leng Yan decided to search outside the mountain gate. He stepped onto his flying sword and flew out of the mountain protection formation. Surrounding him were forests and mountains, yet his mental power, covering several li, gleaned no clues.
Just as Leng Yan was about to turn back, he felt a jolt in his spiritual mind. It was a signal from the sound transmission conch. Chu Jianfeng might be nearby.
Leng Yan was about to send a message when Chu Jianfeng’s voice resonated in his mind.
“You’ve finally come out. Quickly make your way to the Liuli Terrace on Nanshan. I’m waiting for you here!”
Liuli Terrace on Nanshan, located to the south of Water Sect, was a medium-sized mountain known in the mundane world for its massive glass-like stone at the summit.
Using sword flight, Leng Yan arrived on Liuli Terrace in ten minutes, where Chu Jianfeng sat under a tree, cooling off.
“What brings you here?” Leng Yan asked, putting away his Azure Sky Sword as he approached the tree.
“I’ve been here for more than ten days, and the mountain protection formation blocked the sound transmission conch, so I couldn’t reach you. If you hadn’t come out today, I would have left!” Chu Jianfeng complained as he stood up.
“What’s brought you to find me?” Leng Yan, having been through thick and thin with Chu Jianfeng, felt at ease enough to speak candidly.
“I need you to come with me somewhere,” Chu Jianfeng said.
“Where to? And for what purpose?”
“To Yin Mountain! Recently, our Elder’s son, Liu He, disappeared without a trace. The sect issued a mission: whoever finds Liu He will be rewarded with the nine yin fiend god technique. After asking around, I found out about Yin Mountain, where the yin aura is strong. I suspect Liu He might be there. However, that place is teeming with powerful fierce souls, so I need your help,” Chu Jianfeng explained, touching the scar on his face.
“Liu He! What if I told you he’s already dead? What would you do?” Leng Yan said coldly.
Knowing that this matter would eventually come to light, Leng Yan decided not to hide it from Chu Jianfeng. He also wanted to see if Chu Jianfeng would betray him.
“What? He’s dead! Did you kill him?” Chu Jianfeng exclaimed in surprise.
Leng Yan didn’t respond verbally, merely nodding with a slight smile.
Chu Jianfeng shook his head, saying, “I was hoping to find him and get the nine yin fiend god technique. Well, that’s out the window now!”
“It’s not entirely hopeless. You can report the situation to Liu Changsheng, and you may still get a reward,” Leng Yan suggested.
“Come on! You think I’d sell out a friend for profit?” Chu Jianfeng retorted angrily.
Seeing Chu Jianfeng’s reaction, Leng Yan smiled slightly. Chu Jianfeng was indeed a friend worth having.
“Alright, I was joking! I know the cultivation method for the nine yin fiend god technique, and I’ll pass it on to you now,” Leng Yan said as he began transferring the technique’s details to Chu Jianfeng.
“How do you know the nine yin fiend god technique?” Chu Jianfeng was shocked after reviewing the technique.
“Soul search,” Leng Yan replied casually.
“Great! This way, we don’t have to risk going there,” Chu Jianfeng laughed.
“Who said that? We still need to go to Yin Mountain, but in a little while,” Leng Yan said with a smile, plucking a leaf from the tree.
