Chapter 47 - Battle!
“Make your move!” Leng Yan stood at the edge of the arena, smiling at the corner of his mouth.
“Fine, let’s see how long your arrogance lasts,” Prince Bao said, noticing that Leng Yan hadn’t made any battle preparations and was letting him make the first move. Clearly, Leng Yan was showing that he didn’t take him seriously at all.
“You’ll see soon enough!” Leng Yan gestured with a wave of his hand and smiled.
“Kui Snake! Kill him for me!” Prince Bao’s eyes flashed with murderous intent as he commanded the Kui Snake to attack.
The Kui Snake, unable to wait any longer, shot forward like lightning as soon as it received the order. Its head surged toward Leng Yan, a fishy wind already filling the air, yet Leng Yan still didn’t move, and his smile remained unchanged.
“Boom! Boom! Boom!”
“Roar!”
Explosions and painful roars echoed through the air, with the entire arena engulfed in clouds of debris.
As the explosive noise faded and the Kui Snake’s howls lingered in the sky, Leng Yan stood untouched, not even specked with dust. However, the Kui Snake was covered in wounds and fresh blood, although not critically injured, fear began to build, making it hesitant to attack again.
“What’s wrong? Is that it? Come on!” From the start of the match, Leng Yan had set an attack seal on the arena, which the Kui Snake triggered during its charge, becoming the target of the assault. If Leng Yan’s power were any stronger, the Kui Snake would already be dead.
“How can this be! Kui Snake, don’t be scared, kill him!” Prince Bao couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He had no idea how Leng Yan had made his move. Unwilling to accept this reality, he shouted, urging the Kui Snake to continue attacking!
Though momentarily afraid, the Kui Snake, known for its ferocious nature, had its brief fear overtaken by savage fury. It roared and charged again with a massive maw and sharp fangs, yet Leng Yan remained stationary. As soon as Leng Yan’s head was in the Kui Snake’s mouth, many outer disciples gasped in shock.
“Is this the end?”
But what happened next surprised everyone once more!
As the fangs pierced through Leng Yan’s body, no blood flowed. Instead, his form dissipated into ashes. In that moment, Leng Yan suddenly appeared in the Void, with the Azure Sky Sword slicing down like a guillotine toward the Kui Snake’s head.
“Roar! Roar!”
The Azure Sky Sword sliced into the snake’s body, causing blood to gush out wildly. The sword cut a third of the way through the Kui Snake’s neck, and it writhed in agony. Its massive tail thrashed around, hitting the ground with earth-shaking force.
Standing behind the Kui Snake, Prince Bao almost got hit by its tail. Seeing the condition of the Kui Snake, his heart ached as he hurriedly tossed several healing elixirs into its mouth.
While Prince Bao was attempting to heal the Kui Snake, Leng Yan was intent on harming it. He unleashed multiple phantom seals, making it difficult for Prince Bao to discern which was real, then multiple Leng Yan’s charged at the Kui Snake.
“Leng Yan, how dare you!” Prince Bao cried out in desperation. The Kui Snake was his only treasure tool, and creating this magical treasure had cost him countless hours and effort. If Leng Yan killed the Kui Snake, the treasure would be reduced to nothing more than a shell.
However, faced with numerous Leng Yan’s, he didn’t know where to start and shouted in panic.
Leng Yan was not intimidated by his threat; the Azure Sky Sword struck the Kui Snake’s head again. This time, the head split in two. With a thud, the Kui Snake fell to the ground, dead.
“This person is so powerful! Prince Bao’s Kui Snake got slain so easily by him!”
“Seals! This person really knows his seals; it looks like I’ll need to ask for his help!” Lu Mao murmured to himself, holding a talisman.
Witnessing Leng Yan effortlessly slay the Kui Snake, many who underestimated him were left astonished and began discussing. Leng Yan’s strength had exceeded their expectations.
“You killed my Kui Snake! You must die! Ice Spear Barrage! Kill!” Prince Bao was driven to madness. After months of ceaseless efforts, he’d finally managed to fuse numerous heavenly materials and earthly treasures into the Kui Snake’s body to help it break through realms and grow. With time, this magical treasure could continually grow and might have even become a dao artifact!
But now? Everything was reduced to nothing, his painstaking efforts turned to dust! His heart was filled with pain! He was furious; all his grief and rage were caused by Leng Yan. He wanted to kill Leng Yan and use his life to offset it all.
Anger had stripped him of reason, leaving him unable to think clearly, with only one thought in his mind: “Kill!”
The air was instantly filled with frost, and ice spears shimmered with a cold light, shooting toward Leng Yan like a storm of arrows.
Both had cultivated the Blackwater Emperor Technique, but Leng Yan had mastered the primordial essence, the very source of water. As the countless ice spears approached Leng Yan, he simply uttered the word “disperse,” and all the ice spears dissolved into Water Qi, vanishing into the air.
“Playing with water in front of me, you’re still too green!” Leng Yan maintained that slight smile throughout, a smile tinged with mockery and disdain, which ignited endless fury within Prince Bao.
“How is this possible? I’ve cultivated the Blackwater Emperor Technique! How can this happen?” Prince Bao exclaimed in disbelief.
“This should also be the Blackwater Emperor Technique, but why does his technique make mine seem subservient?” Hong Luan muttered to herself.
“There is no why. Only winning and losing! Weren’t you the one who wanted my legs? Come and get them!” Leng Yan intended to instill fear in Prince Bao step by step, to make him feel inferior every time he saw him, ensuring he’d never be able to hold his head high again.
“You forced me to this point. I will kill you!” Prince Bao suddenly shook off his despair, eyes sharp and filled with killing intent, the silver needle appearing in his palm once more.
“Ghost Souls Devour! Go!” Prince Bao picked up the silver needle and pricked it with a drop of essence blood. The needle absorbed the blood, turning blood red while a chilling wind swept through, accompanied by wailing and cries echoing across the plaza.
The blood-red silver needle, summoned by Prince Bao, flew into the air and instantly transformed into thousands of ghost souls. These ghost souls carried heavy Fiendish Qi, possessing the peak strength of the magical power realm, and such a large number would indeed be challenging to handle.
But that was for others. Leng Yan held the Netherworld Ghost Banner, which required ghost souls to enhance the grade of his magical treasure, giving him a significant advantage.
“Haha! Prince Bao, I’ll gladly accept this great gift! I was just worrying about where to find ghost souls! Netherworld Ghost Banner, absorb!” Leng Yan laughed heartily, and with a wave of his hand, the Netherworld Ghost Banner soared into the air, emitting an eerie glow.
As the Netherworld Ghost Banner appeared in the sky, it released waves of black mist. Surrounding the banner stood ten fierce souls, each dressed in black armor and at the mid-stage of the true essence realm.
These fierce souls, having been mutated by dragon energy, exuded an aura of majesty, resembling kings among ghosts.
Seeing the ghost souls fluttering chaotically in the air, the fierce souls laughed heartily, opening their mouths to inhale deeply.
Upon sensing the presence of these ten fierce souls, the thousands of ghost souls became terrified, creating chaos and flying aimlessly while screaming in fear.
The pull from the open mouths of the fierce souls formed ten vortices, and those ghost souls, unable to avoid them, were absorbed by the hundreds in an instant.
With so many ghost souls absorbed, the fierce souls began to grow, and unicorn horns started to sprout from their heads.
These fierce souls had been transformed by Long Tian; as long as they had enough ghost souls to consume, they would continue to grow.
“Attack!” Prince Bao shouted frantically, unable to accept the outcome, but his calls had no effect-all the ghost souls were fleeing in every direction!
“Trying to escape? It’s not that easy! If I can devour them all, my Netherworld Ghost Banner should be able to increase in grade!” Leng Yan was in high spirits. Seeing some ghost souls attempting to escape, he smiled, pointed at the Netherworld Ghost Banner, and commanded, “Ten Directions Soul Entrapment Formation!”
At Leng Yan’s command, the ten fierce souls transformed into masses of black mist, enveloping all the ghost souls.
The sky appeared like a dark cloud, from which echoed sounds of screams and the eerie howling of the wind.
“Die!” Prince Bao, clutching a broken folding fan, charged madly toward Leng Yan. He was unwilling to accept this outcome. After nearly a year of patience and planning, he had been waiting for today. He sought revenge and wanted to see Leng Yan kneel and beg for mercy. But nothing turned out as he had imagined!
He had lost completely! Defeated utterly. Leng Yan was toying with him, and he felt like a dog with its tail between its legs!
From the moment he stepped onto the stage, Leng Yan had suppressed him harshly, leaving him with no chance to battle back! He could not bear it; in front of tens of thousands, he could not afford to lose!
“Still want to resist? I will make sure you can’t get back up; let’s see how you battle back!” Leng Yan said ruthlessly.
