Chapter 43 - Fire Immortal Palace
lace
Cold, ruthless, bloodthirsty-those eyes were filled with destruction!
Leng Yan was startled awake by this gaze and sat up abruptly, beads of sweat covering his forehead.
“Leng Yan, you’re awake! That’s great!” Shui Yunyao had been holding Leng Yan’s hand tightly, her eyes red and tears welling up, showing all her deep concern.
“Yunyao, why are you crying? I’m fine!” Leng Yan breathed a sigh of relief, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and smiled.
“You’ve been unconscious for six days. How could I not worry? Now that you’re awake, I can finally relax!” Shui Yunyao said with a joyful smile.
“Thank you!” Leng Yan felt Shui Yunyao’s sincerity and offered a heartfelt thanks.
“I’ll go find Long Qing and the others. You rest for a bit!” Shui Yunyao released Leng Yan’s hand and left the room.
Watching Shui Yunyao leave, Leng Yan calmed himself. He needed to think about how to deal with Yanyan. Leng Yan was certain that Yanyan had been monitoring him, but Yanyan might not be aware of the man in the yellow robe. He could only infer from Yanyan’s words later. Some things must remain confidential, as no one can predict what might happen otherwise. After all, he wasn’t very familiar with Yanyan.
“Leng-Ge! You’re awake, that’s wonderful. I was so worried about you.” Long Qing rushed into the room with a happy smile.
“I’m fine, no need to worry!” Leng Yan replied with a smile.
Yanyan walked into the room, his eyes fixed on Leng Yan. Even though Leng Yan couldn’t feel Yanyan probing him, it was obvious that Yanyan was observing him.
“How could this be? Even Long Tian’s seal couldn’t prevent me from probing your soul. So why can’t I sense your soul’s power now? Could it be that the soul refined has transcended my understanding or broken free from certain rules?” Yanyan muttered to himself.
“Elder Yanyan, what are you talking about?” Leng Yan pretended to be completely unaware and asked.
“Did you undergo soul refinement?” Yanyan asked, looking up.
“What is soul refinement? All I know is that I was burned by flames many times, it was unbearably painful, but I managed to endure it. Then seven beautiful women tried to seduce me, which I refused, and they burned me again. This time I couldn’t withstand it and lost consciousness, then I woke up,” Leng Yan said, realizing from Yanyan’s words that he only knew about the soul refinement process up to a point, so Leng Yan lied afterward, not telling Yanyan everything.
“So you passed the first stage but stopped at the second stage! That means you have the potential to become an immortal lord! Today, I’ll teach you the Scarlet Flame Emperor Technique and grant you the Fire Immortal Mark. From now on, you will be considered a disciple of the Fire Immortal Palace.” With a wave of his hand, Yanyan imprinted the essence of the Scarlet Flame Emperor Technique and a Vermilion Bird Mark into Leng Yan’s sea of consciousness.
“The potential to become an immortal lord? Fire Immortal Palace? What does this mean?” Leng Yan asked.
“Throughout history, anyone who has passed the soul refinement has become a figure akin to an immortal lord, which suggests you may have that potential. As for the Fire Immortal Palace, it’s something you don’t need to understand right now.” Having recruited someone with the potential to become an immortal lord into the Fire Immortal Palace, Yanyan was in a great mood.
“Alright! In that case, we should leave. As for Long Qing, she needs to decide whether to stay here or leave with us!” Having obtained the Scarlet Flame Emperor Technique, Leng Yan wanted to return to the Water Sect soon to study and consolidate his recent gains.
“Long Qing will stay here! I need to help her find her own legacy and restore her cultivation level as quickly as possible!” Yanyan said, looking at Long Qing.
“Long Qing, what do you think?” Although Leng Yan hoped Long Qing would stay, he wanted to respect her decision.
“I want to stay. I want to become stronger and protect Leng-Ge!” Long Qing said resolutely.
“You’re so thoughtful, Long Qing! Yunyao and I will leave now.” After bidding farewell, Leng Yan and Yunyao took their magical treasure and flew away from the Fire Sect.
Back at the Water Sect, more than ten days had passed. During this time, Leng Yan sought out Xuan Yi and recounted everything that happened during the soul refinement at the Fire Sect.
From Xuan Yi, Leng Yan learned about the so-called body of belief. The most significant change he felt after acquiring it was that his spiritual awareness now covered an area of several tens of li. Additionally, the speed at which he could form seals and their power had greatly increased.
Of course, Leng Yan didn’t mention the man in the yellow robe or the man in the black robe. Upon learning that Leng Yan had passed the soul refinement, Xuan Yi seemed even more excited, but he didn’t give Leng Yan any mark or anything like that. However, the way Xuan Yi looked at him was somewhat unusual, giving Leng Yan an eerie feeling.
Having received the Scarlet Flame Emperor Technique and Purple Gold Emperor Technique, Leng Yan didn’t start cultivation immediately. Instead, he spent these ten days frantically undertaking missions to exchange for primordial spirit elixirs. In those ten days, Leng Yan finally collected fifty thousand primordial spirit elixirs, enough to activate another formation in the immortal land.
This formation could alter the rules of time, where one day outside equaled a year within the immortal land.
After completing his mission at the outer attendant pavilion, Leng Yan walked back to the master’s pavilion. As he crossed the Iron Chain Bridge, five men approached from the opposite side.
These five walked swaggeringly, like ruffians crossing the street. The leader looked at Leng Yan with a face full of Fiendish Qi.
Looking closely, Leng Yan smirked slightly, recognizing the leader as Yelü Qi, whom he had dealt with before. The others were lackeys of Prince Bao.
The two sides quickly met, and the five stood in a line blocking Leng Yan’s way.
“Leng Yan, can’t you see how many of us there are? A good dog doesn’t block the road; move aside for us,” Yelü Qi shouted arrogantly.
It had been some time since Leng Yan last saw Yelü Qi, who had now reached the mid-stage of the true essence realm, believing himself capable of defeating Leng Yan, hence his arrogance.
Leng Yan smiled slightly, stepping aside, and said, “I’ll move aside for the dogs. The dogs can pass now!”
“Damn it! Get him!” Yelü Qi, unable to get the upper hand verbally, was infuriated and shouted.
At Yelü Qi’s command, the surrounding lackeys drew their flying swords.
These individuals had now broken through to the true essence realm and attacked with their respective Divine Powers.
With Leng Yan’s current strength, these people were no match for him, even with a single move, yet Leng Yan already understood why Yelü Qi was blocking his way.
As the Newcomer Competition approached, it seemed clear that Prince Bao wanted to test Leng Yan’s strength.
Knowing the opponent’s intentions, Leng Yan had no intention of revealing his true capabilities.
While the others wielded uniformly low-grade spiritual weapons, Leng Yan possessed mostly treasure tools. His only spiritual weapon was the supreme-grade Qinglan Sword, which he had exchanged for after ten days of missions.
With a burst of azure light, Leng Yan swung the Qinglan Sword in a semicircle, deflecting the group’s attacks and using their momentum to slide back several dozen meters.
“A supreme-grade spiritual weapon! Someone like you doesn’t deserve to wield it! Hand over the flying sword, and I won’t pursue this further,” Yelü Qi said, eyes filled with greed as he gazed at the weapon in Leng Yan’s hand.
“You won’t pursue it? I’m the one who will! Today, you all will leave a leg behind!” Though Leng Yan didn’t want to reveal his full power, using just a third of his strength was more than enough to handle these individuals.
With a twist of his wrist, the Qinglan Sword hummed, the blade trembling slightly. Leng Yan infused the sword with his abundant magical power, causing a phantom azure snake to coil around the blade.
With a powerful push off his feet, Leng Yan shot into their midst like an arrow leaving the bowstring. Sword light filled the air, and sword shadows crisscrossed. He moved effortlessly within their encirclement, like an agile snake weaving through.
“Clang! Clang!” The sound of clashing metal was punctuated by several cries of pain.
“Damn it! Fall back! Use magical techniques, don’t engage him up close,” Yelü Qi shouted from the side. Seeing Leng Yan move freely despite the group’s assault and noticing some were already injured, he decided to change tactics.
“Use magical techniques? Hmph! Do you think you’ll get the chance?” Leng Yan sneered, moving like a phantom. His seemingly erratic footwork was actually full of hidden secrets, allowing him to evade attacks at the last possible moment. Then, he struck swiftly.
Blood bloomed like flowers, as Leng Yan mercilessly cut off the legs of his opponents, the blood flowing like water. Some others stood shocked, looking at Leng Yan as if beholding a demon.
These individuals were pampered young masters, accustomed to being surrounded by servants even in the sect. They rarely had to get their hands dirty. The bloody scene was like an Asura’s battleground to them.
“Run! This guy is a madman, disregarding sect rules and being so ruthless!” One young master, terrified, tried to retreat quickly, but he was too slow and had his legs severed by Leng Yan, leaving him on the ground screaming in agony.
