Chapter 21 - Torment
As cultivators, the two were already accustomed to the stunning beauty of women in the immortal cultivation world, whose looks could entrance even the natural world. Even the most beautiful mortal woman appeared ordinary to them.
An ordinary man, if humiliated by a sixty-year-old woman, would often wish for death; if not death, then his interest in intimacy would likely be ruined for the rest of his life.
This was the case for mortals, let alone these two individuals cultivating dao. Moreover, being humiliated in turn by dozens of old women was a fate worse than death.
“Death? It’s not that easy. This is just the appetizer. I’ve said, if I don’t die, I will repay a hundredfold!” Leng Yan waved his hand, emitting a stream of Water Qi to clean the floor of the room, his eyes piercing as he stared at Chen Hai.
“The one who humiliated you that day was Chen Hai, it had nothing to do with me. I’m not asking you to spare me, but please don’t torture me; let me die swiftly,” Li Kai struggled to sit up, pleading.
“You can’t kill me, if you kill me, I…”
“If I killed you, your cousin would make sure I have nowhere to be buried! Why should I keep you around if I were afraid of that?” Chen Hai hadn’t finished speaking when Leng Yan cut him off.
“Li Kai, you make a good point, you really are innocent. Fine! I won’t torture you! I’ll just let you watch as I torture your adoptive elder brother!” A sinister smile appeared on Leng Yan’s face as he approached Chen Hai.
Relieved to hear that he wouldn’t be tortured, Li Kai quickly moved aside, fearful of being implicated by Chen Hai again. Only now did he truly understand what it meant to prefer death over life!
“What are you going to do! Don’t kill me! Please!” Chen Hai watched as Leng Yan moved closer step by step, like a demon descending upon him.
“Remember this? This is how you crushed my hand bones!”
As Leng Yan spoke, his foot hovered over Chen Hai’s left hand, but he didn’t stomp down. Crushing it would indeed be painful, but that wasn’t the effect Leng Yan was looking for. He wanted to lower it slowly, letting Chen Hai anticipate the agony, instilling fear deep within his heart.
“Please, no! I know it’s all my fault, I’ll kowtow to you, please! Spare me.” Chen Hai, his hand pinned under Leng Yan’s foot, recalled the agony Leng Yan had endured.
Imagining such pain soon to be inflicted on himself, Chen Hai was deeply frightened, crying out in hopes that Leng Yan would spare his life.
“Don’t be afraid! It won’t hurt! Not at all.”
“Crack! Crack!”
The crisp sounds came from Chen Hai’s hand as Leng Yan pressed down even harder.
“Ah! It hurts so much, stop torturing me! I know I was wrong! Ah!”
Watching Chen Hai writhe in pain, Leng Yan showed no mercy or sympathy, because he deserved it!
And Li Kai, who was watching at the side, now understood why Leng Yan had agreed to his request to witness this, realizing that watching someone else suffer was a torture in itself.
The cruel methods and Chen Hai’s agonized screams kept Li Kai’s heart racing, as if he himself was the one being tortured.
Bending down, looking at the bloodied, mangled hand, Leng Yan’s face remained expressionless, accustomed to the bloodshed from years as an assassin.
“Sorry! I accidentally used too much strength! Here, let me apply some ‘medicine’.”
Leng Yan smiled as he opened a porcelain bottle in his hand, filled with white granules-salt.
“Don’t, please, no!”
If Chen Hai could have killed himself in front of Leng Yan, he would have chosen suicide long ago. Sadly, even if Chen Hai bit his own tongue, Leng Yan could simply give him a healing elixir, and he wouldn’t die; self-detonation was even less of an option since he hadn’t reached the golden core realm, the only level that afforded the privilege of self-destruction.
Now, all he could do was beg, his eyes filled with fear as he watched the salt fall onto his blood-drenched palms, causing a bone-piercing pain to surge once again through his numb hands. His face was covered in sweat from the pain, and the muscles under his eyes twitched incessantly.
The salt dissolved in the blood, and at this point, Chen Hai was tormented like a dead man, crawling on the ground, breathing in agony.
Li Kai, drenched in cold sweat, couldn’t imagine enduring such torture himself; he couldn’t bear to watch any longer, closed his eyes, and turned his head away.
“How does it feel? Now do you understand the pain I endured back then? If you hadn’t tormented me that day, I wouldn’t have taken revenge! Of course, had you not tormented me, perhaps I would have died long ago. As a token of my gratitude, I will cease tormenting you! I grant you a swift departure.” As Leng Yan’s words fell, the Sun Essence Wheel transformed into a Golden Light and severed Chen Hai’s head, thus liberating him from his painful torment.
The Sun Essence Wheel, after killing Chen Hai, did not pause. With a spin, it also slew Li Kai.
He took both of their storage bags and threw their bodies out of the window into the river below.
Using Water Qi, he cleaned the bloodstains thoroughly and left the blood-scented room for the clean room next door.
Opening their storage bags, he poured out all the contents, forming a small mountain of thousands of Primordial Spirit Elixirs.
Among the items was Li Kai’s low-grade treasure tool, the “Golden Purple Bell,” a true treasure. Leng Yan performed the Blood Recognition immediately.
After memorizing the usage of the Golden Purple Bell, he hung it at his waist. The purple bell looked quite charming.
Looking over the other items, most were various herbs and some rare treasures, but nothing else caught Leng Yan’s attention.
“That’s not right! During the battle, Chen Hai used an Ice Dragon Carving and even performed the Water Dragon’s Roar. Why don’t I see that carving?” Leng Yan mumbled to himself as he searched through the pile of herbs.
“Hmm? No carving found! I didn’t expect to find a middle-grade treasure tool Flying Sword here. I knew it! Your cousin certainly wouldn’t leave you without something to defend yourself.” He picked up the Flying Sword and closely examined it. The blade was deep blue, adorned with carvings of various Spirit Beasts and Formations.
Dropping a bead of blood on it, the blade suddenly burst into a brilliant blue light, and the phantom of a Azure Crystal Toad appeared. At the same time, Leng Yan received feedback from the Weapon Spirit. This Flying Sword was named “Azure Sky.”
After playing with the Flying Sword for a while, he also placed it in his storage bag. The herbs were just ordinary spiritual medicines, too good to throw away, so he took them as well. As for the Primordial Spirit Elixirs, there were three thousand of them, and of course, he would not let them go; he took them all.
Revenge had been exacted and treasures collected; Leng Yan felt truly delighted. Since the night was already deep, he decided to rest here for the night, longing for a good sleep he hadn’t had in a long while.
Lying in bed, a thick fragrance of rouge assailed his nostrils, reminding him of where he was. The scent was too pungent for his liking, yet he had to admit that it stirred a man’s deepest desires. At least, Leng Yan’s thoughts were now all about Shui Yunyao. Imagining her slender waist, beautiful bosom, red lips, and fragrant tongue made his body heat up more and more, and his manhood grew restless, as if wanting to burst through the heavens.
It was better to leave this place. If Laobao, the old procuress, were to come in now and tease him, he might lose control.
Summoning Little Tiger, Leng Yan mounted him, thankful for the saddle between them; otherwise, Little Tiger might notice the stiffness below, which would be quite embarrassing.
“Little Tiger, let’s go!”
A burst of colorful halos leapt out of the room, and after several bounds onto the bank, they disappeared into the blackness of the night.
No sooner had Leng Yan left than the door opened, and Laobao “Liu Mei” sauntered in. Walking to the window, she watched the spot where Leng Yan had disappeared, a slight smile playing on her lips. It was as if she could see Little Tiger carrying Leng Yan racing away in the distance.
…
At dawn, the sky began to lighten with a hint of daybreak. After traveling at high speed for two hours, Leng Yan was already hundreds of miles away from Chang’an, and not far from the tide sea. He was in no rush and put Little Tiger away as he walked towards a village in front.
At the village entrance, a tea stall was already open, and the attendant was busy. Leng Yan walked straight up and said, “A bowl of tea, please!”
“Right away! Just a moment!” the attendant called out loudly.
Leng Yan, unhurried, closed his eyes to rest. Soon after, the attendant handed him the tea with a smile. “Are you heading to Yong’an Town up ahead?”
Leng Yan, puzzled by the question, paused briefly and nodded, “Yes, I am heading to the tide sea, passing through Yong’an Town.”
“There have been demons causing trouble in Yong’an Town recently! If you’re passing through, please hurry and leave before it gets dark!”
Leng Yan smiled slightly, took a sip of the tea, and replied, “Thank you for the warning!”
“No problem! Enjoy your tea slowly!”
