Chapter 7
I recalled the scene when we first met.
It was five years ago.
I went to the aquarium alone.
The aquarium was absurdly large, packed with people, but the signs were incomplete.
I was tired from wandering, yet I couldn’t find the exit no matter what.
When I finally gathered my courage and used sign language to ask someone for directions,
I drew mocking laughter from a few passersby: “Are you mute?”
“What’s a mute doing at the aquarium alone?”
“Are you directing traffic? That’s hilarious.”
“Not everyone understands sign language. Next time you go out, why not stick a note on your forehead that says ‘mute’?”
“The little mute is actually quite pretty. Call me ‘brother’ and I’ll show you the way.”
I lowered my hands in disappointment, holding back tears, and turned to flee the crowd.
Huo Yanchuan squeezed through the crowd and called out to me: “Are you lost? Can’t find the exit? I’ll take you out.”
At that moment, I remembered the kind stranger who showed me the way.
He escorted me to the aquarium exit and watched as I got into a taxi.
A year and a half ago, Old Master Huo said he wanted to introduce his grandson to me.
I wasn’t interested in marrying into a wealthy family at first.
Until I saw Huo Yanchuan and recognized him as the one who had guided me.
So, I agreed to the marriage.
I don’t know if Huo Yanchuan ever recognized me.
He has never mentioned it since we got married.
I suppose it’s been too long, and he’s probably forgotten.
Now, he mentioned that he specifically learned sign language five years ago.
Could this be a coincidence?
